Xiaomi Watch S1 and Watch S1 Active review

202 BPM? I would be dead. Even in ~170 BPM :D
Anyway, I have gotten S1 Active as a gift, hope they update calls (i cannot confirm now) and other things to S1 levels. They fixed app installation (although there are only 3 apps). No help for wireless charging. ;) I shoud read GSMArena rewiew first, not believe others (local, nonlocal also). Then S1 is a choice.
The software reminds me of Nokia phones, without the touching hands. The bootup is very fast, I do not think it is OS in the correct way but fast. The up/down swipe surprised me also. :)
But then I wanted to buy Garmins robust (SW, HW, sports, functions) LCD watches for nearly 2x the price, but I am glad I did not chose to, although it is a very good piece of hardware. However, I should get S1 GL(obal). As it is marketed here in CZ. No surprise there are not official specs in price aggregators in CZ.

its a crap, totally wasting your money,,,it is said, it can resist the water, but 2 times i get the watch replacement and get the same problem. i never use this watch for swim nor get under water for long time.

dont ever think to buy this watch, it's a crap, no updates firmware, no update watchface really disappointed, just wasting your money if you buy this product, i'm regretful bought it

Nenad, 18 Jun 2022I see you have a problem with bluetooth. Have you tried to ... moreI have removed all the restrictions on battery usage, otherwise the app is not connected to the watch and weather does not synchronize.
After the update I have noticed that I get Bluetooth connection notifications only once in two weeks and it doesn't stop, until I pair it again. Since I am tired of this shi* I just turn off bluetooth.
I also think that speaker on the watch is not as loud as it used to be before update. Before I could have normal conversation, now I barely hear the other person, so I don't use the watch to talk anymore.
After about 4 months now, I must say, that I am very disappointed by this watch. Previously I had Amazfit Pace which was released in 2016. I bought it in 2017 and had it for 4 years! The battery lasted between 3 to 4 days at the end and I must say I liked my previous watch waaaay more. Only thing in S1's advantage is that it looks better. If I had chance now, I would return it.

Allow it to run constantly in the background, lock it so you don't interrupt its work, don't limit its battery use and allow it to start automatically

Regarding automatic alarm and good night message:
I have figured out, that if you disable SLEEP MODE in app, those notifications will disappear.
Pair watch with Bluetooth is annoying as hell, i get that message at least 5 times a week!
When you are in activity, the screen is dark, so you have to press button in order to see how fast are you going or how far you've got.
Phone coversation quality is amazing! Even when I ride a bicycle, sound is perfect. The other side can't tell that I am on a bike, because there is no wind sound!
As I am writing, I just got a software update. Hope it fixes some stuff. Will report in a month or so.

I've managed to send it in for warranty with no issues, however, since it can't be repaired and a replacement unit will only be available within 3 months (in my country, Malaysia, I don't quite understand it as they have new retail units for sale but not to replace warranty cases?), Xiaomi has provided me a full refund.
Still I may buy the same unit as it was a nice watch with a great price. Massive surprise on the longevity though.

Wow, this is truly a half baked product. Alexa, NFC payments, conversion to Imperial units, downloadable Xiaomi apps, none of that works. I've only had this watch 1 day and found all that. Also, there is no keypad to dial a phone number but, there is a pin keypad, and you can put any phone number in as an emergency contact and dial it, so why not make the pin keypad a phone dialer too? Seems like everything is there to make this work. So much potential with this device, come on Xiaomi programmers, make this the outstanding watch that it could and should be.

I have watch (not active version) for about a good week now. I havent tested it thoroughly for activities, but and here are my thoughts:
Pros:
- watch is really beautiful, a bit heavier than active version but looks really nice
- display is nice and bright
- menu browsing is very responsive
- phone call with built in microphone and speaker is surprisingly good, i can have normal conversation
Cons:
- there are many watch faces, but only one can be costumized in terms of selecting which values are displayed (battery, stepps, heart rate...)
- every other day I get notification on phone and watch, that those devices would like to connect with Bluetooth, even though they are already connected
- without any setting, watch vibrates at 22.00 whishing me good night
- again without any setting, it has an alarm set up at 9.00. If I go to bed late and want to sleep in it wakes me up for no reason. i have no alarms set up
All in all, I am veary disappointed with the cons I have listed and I hope we get some firmware update soon!
