You guys realize this is just one option, that isn’t even official yet, right? It’s not replacing outright buying or any payment plan currently on the market.

Maybe you’re all are just really emotional and needed to vent today.

                https://www.everphone.com/de/magazin/everphone-partner-samsung-device-as-a-service-daas/
                It is stated:
"So ermöglicht everphone Samsung den Einstieg in das Zukunftsmodell „nutzen statt besitzen“."
Translated: Everphone enables Samsung to enter into the model "Using instead of owning".

Unlike Samsung's model, you can be sure that Apple's model will implement restrictions for how you are allowed to use the device.

It is very clear what they want!
The trend points to legislations worldwide for allowing alternative AppStores including alternative Payment methods. But such legislations would only be applicable to devices belonging to customers, but not to leased devices. Apple could attract customers with prices which look lower, but turning out to be higher at the end: you don’t any device after 2 years, you pay the 30% AppStor tax, you can’t sideload anything.
As the devices won’t belong to you, Apple could implement even more restrictions in order to "secure" the device belonging to Apple from potential damages. And Apple would collect even more data that they do already.

With this idea they will never get my hard earned cash.

The trouble is that Samsung may get an idea or two from Apple, you all know how this goes.

If they do this I'll be leaving and going back to android.

Here in the UK most pay for there iphones through there carrier, mostly on a 24 months, Combining the cost of the handset & service cost in one payment, I'm unsure if that's the way it works in other countries.

I can only think that the reason Apple is doing this is for Sunstainability and to of course help funnel money from comsumer pockets into its own.

I mean if the proposed subscription service for an iPhone means you don't own the device and to end the subscription you may even be obliged my contract to hand the "rented" device back to Apple takes away financial decision from the user when said user may want to sell the device on the 2nd hand market which is one thing Apple products are actually pretty good for, they hold there value well.

A sneaky move by Apple which I won't fall for.

oh my god. this era really is going for the subscription-based everything only huh. this will enable all other companies to also do the same thing as apple. i cant wait for these useless subscription stuff to crash down. i dont mind some software subscription, but if it turns to hardware - we have a problem and are doomed to literally not owning anything at this point.

I didn't... moreThey are going to lease you devices for monthly pay, basically like they do now where you pay all of it and they throttle it later. You don't own it, you can't repair it, so basically nothing has changed.
