Overpriced and unnecessary.

It's like NVIDIA knew prices will go absolutely bonkers with non existent availability. The RTX 3080 was announced with lowest MSRP we've seen in ages on a high end card that has ray tracing and significant increase over last generation, just to be entirely unobtainable for a year and a half with pretty much 3x the announced MSRP back in 2020. Yeah, 2020! We're well into 2022 now. I think gaming industry will never be the same ever again. 2000€ top end graphic cards are the new norm, what used to be 800€ will now be 1000€, those mid range cards will never be 300-350€ again. That spot is now reserved for garbage bottom of the barrel cards like RX 6500 XT which are so cannibalized they often perform worse than 3 years old mid range cards. It seems RTX 3080 was the last graphic card I've bought. Like, full stop. Remember times when I paid around 350€ for a mid end card that was just slightly slower than top of the line flagship and usually possible to catch up through overclocking. Goodbye those times...

                      And its gone!

the 3090 is being sold from 2500 to 4000$, this is very cheap compared at msrp, give it less than a week and it'll be sold at 4000 to 6000$.

I just had a random thought: I think this might've been made to attract the crypto miners to buying this card instead of the standard 3090 and lower. Could be the reason why the price is so high, they want the crypto miners to pay 33% more for single digit performance gains because they don't know any better (obviously) - but people who use these cards for their intended purpose do know better, so they'd rather get a standard 3090 or lower since the small improvements don't justify the giant 33% increase in price.

imagine sold out quickly after launched in a minutes ago
