The manufacture technology (node) of the TMSC is far better then the Samsung technology. Samsung technology 'destroyed' Snapdragon since the last year model, SD888. The last Snapdragon 8 series processors made by TMSC are SD865 & SD870.

Kinda curious tho if the same product have 2 different foundary and different nodes

There you are, the SD 778g will be the last numbered gen 7 Snapdragon. That's why it's so advanced in so many ways compared to all of it predecessors.

dbjungle, 06 Apr 2022And never get a custom ROM. I'll stick with Qualcomm ... moreThat's the main reason I don't buy MediaTek phones but I do recommend those people to buy it who are never gonna bother with Custom Roms.

nanagdad, 06 Apr 2022Qualcomm is dead. I switched to Dimensity 8100 pretty solid chip. And never get a custom ROM. I'll stick with Qualcomm until MediaTek publishes the necessary source code for custom ROMs. I have one Dimensity phone and the performance is great, but I won't buy any more of them.

Anonymous, 05 Apr 2022There is a 780. But pretty rare. I believe the 780 came first and the 778 is a more stable refinement of it as far as temperature is concerned.

I would wait for ARM v9 (second-gen) chipsets.
The X1 and X2 are disappointing Large-Core for phones, more useful on large tablets and thin laptops. Whilst Cortex A78 was pretty good as your standard Large-Cores, the A710 is actually a regression. But the A730 that's coming next year is built by the European team, and we should be seeing a good upgrade in terms of performance and efficiency.

I doubt the X3 core, like it's predecessors, is going to be suitable for phones. Perhaps the extra competition from Apple might force Qualcomm to do something about it.

But 888 and gen 1 are bad because of QM and ARM's bad efficiency design. There many type industry silicon are designed by Samsung which are quite efficient. Like Z16 of IBM.

This will further crush ScamSung's exynos into dust.

This chip proved to be an absolute choice for lower midrange phones due to its frugal power usage

Also MediaTek G-series and P-series have different focus (G mainly for gaming whereas P stands for either "premium" or "photography"). With notable exception of G25 and G96, G series tend to perform better in performance/gaming tasks compared to its parallel P-class brethren. Still, naming convention is weird nowadays
