In this case, I agree with you, and I forgot about that while typing my comment. It's Google that might suffer quite some financial damage here because of that, and who knows whether they might get sued into oblivion over frivolous charges that still have legal grounds.

Lawmakers being idealist and totally forgetting or not taking into consideration the situation some people might be in, like the legal suit examples I described in my comment, and the crazy levels of fraud going on in this world, as evidenced by the presence of so many comments being against Google's mentioned decision. Then again, that demonstrates how difficult it might be to properly frame laws, even if it is meant to benefit the people. 😔
I just hope that other call recording apps will still be found in alternate app stores. Looks like rooting might be necessitated again in the future due to such actions.

Just put call recording button and let user decide if needs to break the law. That way selling kitchen knife should also be illegal.

I will never move away from samsung.. I love my s21 plus and the 1 year extra update promise from samsung made me jump in joy.. I love Apple but dont like the over pricing in my country and ofcourse no call recording.. Thats why Samsung is my choice

Samsung Phone app (in India) has native call recording feature. I use it occasionally to listen something which I didn't understood in call.
BTW Samsung's call recording works only on mobile network calls. VoWiFi calls are not getting recorded.

In this world of fraudsters, call recording should be the first and foremost feature on a phone. So until and unless Google provides it as a built-in feature, they shouldn't have stopped these third party apps.

Another reason to buy a smartphone from Samsung or Apple and stay away from Google as much as possible. Google in recent years has set foot and destroys itself. Examples: Inbox (as an alternative to Gmail), too many posts on YouTube and Chrome, canceling the recording option and more. These are among the reasons for my move to a smartphone from Samsung (by the way, where you can record and even that is built in) and opening an Outlook account instead of Gmail and more ... Google has 3 more good things left and hopes it will not destroy them like the others: Drive, keep and photos.

More and more i'm inclined to go to something else without Google's services. There's plenty of options for every services/apps beside YouTube, but even that can be obtained in another apps.

They are about to pull an apple to us. This is unacceptable. If they actually do it, I am never buying nor recommending pixels and every reviewer should too.

I will only be buying chinese phones with cn rom from now on with call recording. Good luck Google pixel, you have created for yourself a recipe for failure. Who will want to buy Google hardware in the future? 😕

There are companies (hotels, catering services, governmental programs, etc) that can say one thing but you go back to them and then they say something totally different to which you have no proof they said the first thing. This happens with bills, what was ordered, NOT ordered, or dates. We wish all companies would operate in the best interest of the customers but it's not always the case.
I don't use the feature but I certainly understand those that use it. It's oddly illegal in certain states here in the US.
