you have to suffer, 10 May 2022smh they will sure make 2TB variant for the S23. you will f... moreI wonder how much that would cost. For people buying phones every now and then, you have to keep on paying for more larger internal storage, with Samsung's case, in only specific markets instead of just moving the SD card you purchased to your new phone and spending less on the internal storage when you upgrade to a new phone.

You can't just rip flash memory out of an old phone and re-use it, but since a Micro SD card is modular and reusable, you can with those.

Just like freaking laptops now! They are getting rid of the memory card slot so you have to use one of the 2 USB-A ports to mount a memory card to it but the bonus here is that if the ports are close together, you can only use one because of how big the adapter is!

SURELY they have room for a memory card when there is literally zero IO on the right side of a $2000 Windows laptop, right? Surely.

What happened to the Xiaomi or Motor 200Mp phone? Just nonsense wait another year. Has it at least got 16k data rates...that might make 8K useful?

By the way Sony, according to rumors the Mark 4 will have a 48 MP main camera, not a 12 MP one. Tomorrow we will see it.

If 108 was so great it should allow some 3x zoom without any loss in quality, but it's not the case. And is not the case becouse many photodiodes means a lot of space between which reduces the general surface that capture light. Less spaces/less photodiodes, but larger will positively impact the light gathering. Of course, will appear another problem but it can be handled with lenses used.

Anyway, will see what's going on when will appear in the market. The first edition was so bad that no one wanted to use it, even xiaomi, knowed as the testing company for Samsung.

Those who are complaining this is a stupid idea, just wait to see what is Samsung able to do! For example, the S22 U can take photos at full resolution at a very nice quality, so much better than the S21 U!

Anonymous, 10 May 2022That's simply nonsense. The Event Horizon Telescope ha... moreThe Event Horizon Telescope is a sum of a bunch of telescopes and they are set up to take the same picture at the same time. So, the principle is definitely the same. The 108 million pixels are by default not there to give you a 108MP image. They're binned into a "regular" 12MP resolution using maths to iron out as many deformations as possible caused by the smartphone sized lenses and sensors.

AnonD-762416, 10 May 2022The pixel binning is there for a very good reason. The same... more"The same principle used as when they took that first photo of a black hole a few years ago using the Event Horizon Telescope"

Event Horizon Telescope is a multi-camera approach being used to overcome the limitation of imaging achieved by a single telescope. Quad Bayer and Nonacell are the ways to provide an option for a low-resolution sensor to shoot a high-resolution image when needed, while sacrificing signal to noise ratio. They are two completely different concepts that shouldn't be even compared.

Samsung's 200MP approach where 16 pixels are combined into 1 is absolutely useless since the lens will hit the diffraction limit unless the aperture is extremely wide, meaning a 200MP photo will be just a noisier version of a 50MP one with no gain in details. The sole reason why they crammed in so many pixels into HP1 is that they *technically could* and 200 sounds nicer than 50 to the average consumer, nothing more - the same will be most likely true for this new sensor as well.

You meant xiaomi. Samsung never use their own flagship sensors before someone else.
