Qualcomm announces Snapdragon 7 Gen 1

The new 4nm chipset promises a 20% GPU increase over the Snapdragon 778G.

RaviSS, 21 May 2022Samsung fab and no AV1 decode... Another disappointment!Am not sure About this but 2008 Qualcomm And Nokia had an Agreement of Using Each other patents, for 15 years, this deal will end Next year 2013, so my guess Next Year we will have Av1 support in Qualcomm soc.

                          gpu wise 778g performance is on par with 860 so this should be on par with 865/870 too

                          anyway, buying an old 865 and overclock it to 888 level is possible with unlock boot loader and konabess software but with good cooling system, mi10 and bs3 came to mind so if this 7 gen 1 fall short below 865 it will be quite a disaster

                                  This is NOT an upgrade from 778g, in fact it's a downgrade especially when it comes to efficiently and heat, thanks to Samsung. It's not worth overheating and battery drain just for some pointless benchmark scores when user doesn't notice the performance difference in day to day use.

                                    Due to Samsung's process this one will be less efficient than 778g running on 6nm. This is nothing but a successor of infamous 780g made by Samsung. Samsung will make non-flagship chips for Qualcomm and TSMC the flagship, just swapping out the previous role! What does it bring for consumers buying non-flagships other than downgrade in efficiency?
