Just how big can a cat photo get?

I also hope you know that PPI and DPI aren't the same.
If you print one 100PPI photo at 20 DPI and another 30PPI at 20 DPI.. The former print will be far superior than the later in quality.

So, don't think that the billboards are printed at 15-20DPI, so, the photo is enough at 20PPI. The original photo must have at least 4x times pixel density compared to printing dot density to get good quality.

Forget thickness. It will take supercomputer power to encode video footage from that sensor.

I want to see how that Bayer chameleon will do 200mp. That's what phones computational photography is about...

        That's great and all, Samsung.
But what about shutter speed (or the lack of it)?
You could never take a sharp 200 mp photo of a moving car or child. Even 108 mp sensors fail miserably at that

You can never judge detail levels correctly in such situation. Even a basic 20 dpi print would mean a 36 MP would be more than enough. Plus, not always does one photo occupy the whole flex.
And this size is what most of flex makers in India take. Am I wrong anywhere?

So what is next? 200x zoom on s23 ultra? Or maybe 500x? Also a humble request to add headphone jacks back, do some research on that too.

BTW the sensor is 1/1.22" (if my memory serves me alright)

Samsung should manufacture a 48MP Sensor with huge ISP and DRAM onboard, and without a CFA, but with superb microlens and very high quality anti-reflection coating. With advanced Computational Photography Algorithms, it should be able to have vastly improved photos over regular CFA cameras.

Samsung just tries to impress the uneducated population with big numbers.

The way the pixels are arranged, its just a 12.5MP sensor, exactly just like one of these 48MP cams is a 12MP one.
I don't think it would be great at high resolution, specially at 200MP.

Billboard, as long as its on a height, won't show lack of details, because its far from the eyes. You could as well put a 8MP picture there or even lower.
Details you can only see when its on a wall of a human's normal height, from where you can examine it up close.
But again, its a world of marketing.

I want to see an 144MP sensor with similar binning system with 0.8μm pixel.
That would make 4k videos using full sensor and 36MP still at daylight with 1.6μm and 9MP still(low light) with 3.2μm. That would be the largest pixel size in a smartphone. This will also allow the phone to take 8k footage using almost full sensor.
