Billboards are printed at low res. But the picture taken for the billboards must have high resolution.
SN: Sorry to pop your enthusiasm.
This sensor has only one native binning system. Other two are similar to taking 108MP shots at full res(demosaicing).

The 50 MP 1.2 microns is an interesting take. Imagine having 50 MP sharp photos for bright daylight photoshoot all while having the ability to go 12 MP 2.5 microns in low-light. Looks interesting.

Whackcar, 26 May 2022Actually he's right & you're wrong. You'... moreI am not assuming at all. NASA used a computer as powerful as toy(present) in 1969, that does not mean they are not using supercomputers now.
The only person here assuming here is you.
I am familiar with small to medium billboard and I can tell you that not a single one of them were taken under 20MP camera, no matter how small the billboard is.

I know billboard depends on distance. That's why we were talking about 15-20dpi.. Not 50dpi or 5dpi.
I am not assuming anything. The real and most practical example will be the creators. If they want to upload 1080p video, they edit it at 4k and then compress it to 1080p to get better result. Same reason why films are shot at 6k-12k res even though the theater is capable of 2k and they release digitally at 4k. I mean forget about those things.,,
If you have a good laptop or monitor... Watch a video native to your resolution and then watch higher res one. You will notice the high res doing better.
Your knowledge is based on the google search, not a practical one. That is why you are saying this. When you do math even 5MP is alright for a highway billboard, but that is not the case practically. I also think you guys are mixing the PPI and DPI.. You probably will print the billboard at 5MP, heck even at 1MP.
But You don't take photos at low resolution. I hope I could get to you.

P C M, 26 May 2022You have no idea about billboard, do you ? 8MP on a billbo... moreActually he's right & you're wrong. You're just assuming that since billboards are huge they must be high in megapixels, but the reality is that billboards have been around since 1800s, and yet high megapixel cameras are only a few decades old at most.

In reality, billboard image size depends on the size & distance of the billboard to the public viewing area. Most billboards are typically 2MP-8MP. I'm not kidding.

You can google more on the subject to learn about it in detail.

I like the fact that it supports multiple binning formats, so that you could choose the 50MP one for balance between detail & size. Much better than having 12MP binned images or 200MP oversized images that don't justify the image size as per quality.

But using a billboard to advertise is stupid, because billboard images are actually not that high resolution to begin with. Billboards are printed with low/mid resolution images that appear crisp due to the long distance.
