LoL Google can't even build their own SoC. Just copy and paste Samsung SoC 🤦🏻♂️

I don't like the author's thesis "proved to be a buggy experience and not very good battery life". I wonder if he even used a Pixel 6?
Mine is the best phone I've ever owned. There were some bugs and troubling restarts before, but they mostly seem fixed now. Battery life is fine also - not the best, but very competitive from what I know.

Anonymous, 01 Jun 2022Always has been, but Google fanatics will bash you if you c... moreI'm sure Google did in fact tell Samsung to tweak few things, but in an essence it's just an Exynos.

Olympus Oms, 01 Jun 2022So it's actually a Samsung soc, not Google. Gotcha Always has been, but Google fanatics will bash you if you call their precious Tensor as crappynos

SShock, 01 Jun 2022So, Tensor+ or Tensor 2 is just Exynos 2200 with few tweaks? It will be a hybrid Frankenstein be tween Exynos 2100 and Exynos 2200 with lower clocks and super overheating and instead of RDNA GPU, you get mediocre Mediatek GPU with fewer graphics cores all made on oven called Samsung 4nm (aka Samsung 7nm rebrand)

Get TSMC to do it man.... U see the result with Apple, Dimensity, and even Snapdragon 8+ gen 1.

Thermal Stability should be the main focus of Pixel 7. my Pixel 6 pro gets so hot after moderate usage. By the way, I don't live in Canada or Iced Country, please consider the weather of middle-east too.

Yeah the Important thing is battery life and gaming experience Mali GPU is ok but not something special like Adreno from QUALCOMM. they should focus on battery life and Gaming performance.

Basically worse in every possible way. They could just use Snapdragon like before or even Dimensity given both now use TSMC. There's no advantage of using this tensor chip, be it single core or multi core or GPU or efficiency or battery life! It's literally worse in every conceivable way!

you have to suffer, 01 Jun 2022could have used sd 8 gen 1 instead of crapynosThey could not. SD 8 Gen 1 is a complete package which you either take or you don't. Tensor chips have parts designed per Google's requirements/needs. How much is debatable, I'm guessing mostly machine learning which Google probably has more know how than Samsung. The rest like standard ARM cores, Samsung has more know how and they are probably not really modified by Google in any way.

Anonymous, 01 Jun 2022Do people know what are talking about? No, it does not n... moreAnd you'll be preaching me with "not know what you're talking about". ARM supplies NOTHING. They are a fabless company that manufactures NOTHING. ARM just designs ARM cores and then license this design to others, nothing else. Then they license it to Qualcomm, Samsung, Apple and they use ARM's reference design or they modify it to fit their use better.

Samsung's 4nm is useless, they should have opted for their 3nm GAA process.

Anonymous, 01 Jun 2022You mean the plus one? Vanilla one is samsung hence overheatthat too. google might chose the vanilla or the plus.

No matter how good the chip is, the Android OS will always pull it down.
Android release so many "Projects" to kill lag, bug and heat, it always return.

SShock, 01 Jun 2022So, Tensor+ or Tensor 2 is just Exynos 2200 with few tweaks?Do people know what are talking about?
No, it does not need to be a Exynos 2200, ARM is the one who supplies the components, and companies put it's own stuff in a chipset then call it Watever.... yea may have some sort of customization but by the end of the day most feed from same processor cores and gpus.
This also applies to apple, that is why NVIDIA could not buy ARM in the first place, if that would have happened what a disgrace for us all!

So, it was an Exynos all this time

Havent we learned from all the exynos problems in the past?
