UHD for OLED displays and QHD for LCD ones cause we all know LCD with same resolution as an OLED display always appears sharper.

All I need is 120hz,oled, Bright enough to see under direct sunlight,HDR and 8bit panel. One way or another a 10bit panel will not tell you what is the color of a bacteria..^^

Waiting for microLED technology.
Also miniLED like in that of Apple iPad Pro 12.9 (5th gen) is awesome and better than amoled but the LED's need to be even more smaller for a smartphone.

for me, 120hz fhd amoled hdr is somewhere between battery life and sharp enough to be pleasing to the eyes, assuming its 1080 x 2400

Olympus Oms, 05 Jun 20225". Full HD. Samoled. 90 degree corners! No holes! 144... moreJust to let you know a 5" 16:9 screen would be equivalent to a ~5.6" 20:9 since you'd be stretching the screen taller. Unless you cut the sides of the 5" screen to get a 20:9 then you'd maybe have a ~4.2" 20:9 screen (did not do the math). This is why I prefer to include the width of the phone, say ~70mm.
Just look at the display size increase of the Pixel 2 compared to the Pixel 3a, or the Sony XZ2 compact compared to the XZ1 compact, both within about the same body width, except their height.

Couldn't care less about resolution or refresh rate. Even now I switched my phone to 60 Hz, anything higher is just a battery eating gimmick. What else? 6" and Always-on AMOLED, and that's it. OK, who gives that?

I'm old school.
16:9
720p
60 Hz
Flat
Hardened glass
I could live with 4:3 since most of my old sitcoms and retro video games pre-PS3/Xbox 360 on my phones are 4:3. But I'll take 16:9 just for a little more balance since I do carry a lot of movies in that 1.85:1 ratio like Goodfellas and The Shawshank Redemption. I tend to watch my episodes of I Love Lucy and Gilligan's Island on my Razr 5G's cover display because it's shaped like the old 4:3 TVs.
I don't mind lower resolution and refresh rate if it means more battery life efficiency. I'm all about battery life and durability. And many of my favorite TV shows were in that 4:3 ratio in 480p or 16:9 in 720p/1080p. The higher resolutions up to 4K with higher refresh rates means shorter battery life and extremely large file sizes.

For me winning categories don't make any sense. Why do people want more pixels, HZs and more of other stuff? They are never free and cost battery life and money. Why these instead are not a priority? With perfect eyesight i don't see much difference for everything better that HD+ on 6.2 amoled, and these are extra to render and display meaning less battery and always more latency. Why?? Same for refresh rate, why would anyone not prefer 10-20% more battery when most of the usage is static content? Noone would be able to read and see stuff when it scrolls with 120-144 Hz. And it's not useful much for anything else. Why care? Also, 10-bits and HDR... Doesn't make any sense. Noone uses these super advanced screen for anything professional related stuff where color space and accuracy are important. Why put a few backs there also?

Your just another fool sold a pointless design style.
You would think folk had a size limit on what they can pick uo with their hands, but i have small hands, i have no trouble using old tablets, with huge bezels.

Care little for HRR or any resolution over 1080p. I’d say HDR is probably my most desirable feature. Also, I prefer an LCD display over OLED, but that’s mainly as I don’t constantly feel the need to keep everything as dark as possible on an LCD display just to eek out extra battery life.

Most important is for screen to be bigger every time, that's also why folds are here.
In phones resolution matter less than in tablets, but brightness matters a lot. Which can change in foldables, but I don't expect top screen specs in new kind of device, it's great it works even on FHD.
If you see the difference in speed etc. it's worth the upgrade, time's money after all.
DC dimming is also important for eyes, maybe some don't know how much.
It's also shame some think 6.5" is perfect, or 6.7", it's not stopping there, people want more, folded or not, bigger screen is more likely to be bought than smaller one, I would too.

Does it only bother me that the ratio of pixels shown is incorrect between FHD QHD and UHD ratios?
By the ratio of pixels shown in the image, the ratio of the first to the second to the third is FHD to UHD to 8K

Acorns, 05 Jun 2022FHD+ is the best compromise between sharpness and battery l... morePersonal presence is the biggest factor. For me resolution comes first before refresh rate and I can see the difference between 4k display and a FHD. 60hz is no problem for me. For some its the opposite. Depends on what you want.
