Not everyone has a laptop compatible charger at home.
And you can still buy and connect the massively overpriced lifestyle headphones "Airpods Max" to it, even if there is a 3.5mm connector on the laptop, they have bluetooth since decades ago, who would have guessed that 😱
It's not about only one or the other, it's about having the luxury to use both ways, for more hardware compatibility. See, changed that for you. More is more. Less is less. Simple as that.

you have to suffer, 07 Jun 2022as long you dont drop the macbook like a psychopathAccidents happen, it's just that nothing is repairable with apple,their keyboards had flaws and for some time apple just blamed customers before accepting fault.i honestly kinda pissed off at their increased prices

They designed a magnetic connector - M... moreMagnetic chargers make sense on laptops since they are lightweight enough to fall to the ground when you accidentally trip on the charging cable. Not so much on desktops as they are heavier and don't have a battery inside (= the power supply is permanently required).

They designed a magnetic connector - M... moreReintroducing SD card slot as a premium feature in premium workstation Mac Studio but lacking that from any other product and made propaganda to discriminate SD card as a "old and outdated technology and ot will slow down your computer blah blah blah".
Still don't see any sign of "portless design" rumored by fans around the world for mamy years as the only argument against 3.5mm audio jack, SD card support and USB TypeC port. Maybe all those people who say that are just high. And yeah M2 Macbook Air is getting *more port* than the M1 Macbook Pro.
Apple pay too much on propaganda and all of that backfired.

Apple Studio Display has non-removable cable...
They were "brave" to remove the headphone jack from iPhones. Not "brave" enough to remove it from MacBooks. You could buy the great Airpods Max, you certainly have the money.
They removed the charger from iPhones, because they care for the environment. Macbooks? Nah, keep the charger, environment can handle it.
It's really hard to find another company with this load of BS. Well, maybe Google.

The previous generation started at 1129€ in Germany. The new one starts at 1499€ now. And they snekingly rised the price of the old one to 1199€. The MacBook Pro M2 costs 1599€, up from 1449€ on the previous one.
I liked the M2 MacBook Air at unveil, the US price was understandable, but the EU price is over the top. It will first have to come down through third party resellers to be considerable, else it‘s 50% more expensive than the M1 which is not worth it even with that additional MagSafe port.
