There is a saying in our country...when the house is burning, you decide to start digging a well...that is EU now

MasEnha, 08 Jun 2022I believe we're talking about charger, and until Today... moreI see, well, some have fast charging tho, I hope nothing charge slowly in the future, be it VCs or EVs,....

blue, 08 Jun 2022Sorry, but that's just a lot of nonsense. Apple could ... moreUSB Type-C doesn't exist because no one has made it just yet. if you actually bother to check, 18 out of 79 engineers are from Apple, and those 79 engineers are those that planned and designed USB Type-C.

USB-IF is a consortium, they've no engineers themselves, they ask corporation that is part of the consortium to send their engineers to help designing part of USB specifications, whether it's the protocol or the interface.

So it should be pretty sure that the entire iPhone 15 series and the next-gen iPhone SE must have exactly a USB-C port then...

The glorious USB C came out in 2nd quarter of 2014, why on earth it took so long, how many tons of million of wasted cables, chargers has this delay contributed.
Its only sensible that Every single device from TV to Mobiles, Projectors, Printers, Chargers all should have USB C (many still using cheap, dated USB A ports).

There should be no chargers (even cables too) in the box (Mobile as well as Laptops).

Samsung has stopped including inbox charger, but stupid Xiaomi, Oppo etc still have it inbox & in all their new product launch they are highlighting & showing the inbox chargers to play on psychology & influence buyers to them (idiots).

/The new law is part of the EU’s goal to make electronic products sold within member states more sustainable and to reduce e-waste while helping consumers carry one single charger for all their devices.'
One cable to charge them all but surely you want a spare cable as well?,
especially if all your devices use it

every single electronics category has adopted type-c (including apple laptops). so,it makes sense to get rid of 2-3 types of chargers at each home. smartphones and smart wearables are some of the most popular devices. iphones should have adopted this earlier. apple is not the only one, though. there are other brands like jbl, garmin,... etc. I already got rid of any non-type-c devices. it is such an experience to have only laptop charger enough to charge everything you have.

I believe EU not only regulating the interoperability but also safety. If its the case, when determined that charging with too much wattage have a harmful potential there is an opportunity that the wattage will be limited to some numbers.

That's actually a win for manufacturers, they can justify not including chargers or cables by people owning one already.

Why do I have the feeling that a LOT of people from US will be buying the iPhone from Europe just for the USB-C? Don't know if they'll be compatible with most of the US networks though.
Just buy an Android phone if you don't want such an impractical product.

This supposed to be like 5 years ago already..
And usb-c should be even in todays modern TV's with thunderbolt 4 support and even in graphics cards too ! Laptops it is already and desktop motherboards all of them should have TB3 or TB4 already ! And dedicated GPUs nvidia and amd supposed to have TB3 or TB4 already implemented !
