OnePlus' iconic alert slider will be confined to Pro models while reaching some Oppo flagships

10 June 2022
The only OnePlus phone with an alert slider will be the current numbered Pro handset.

What baffles me is that an alert slider has become a "Pro" feature. Differentiation with display sizes, camera, RAM etc...now this.

Oppo is slowly dismantling everything what was good about OnePlus.

It's sad seeing op everincreasingly going down the cost cutting road....i am a op user since their early days.... used to upgrade my OP yearly....i have been on a OP7Pro since launch and still havent found enough reasons to upgrade given the value propositions of their handsets since then.....but it was expected after their handset expansion policy. Profit margins becoming tighter and tighter while competition eating up on their high end handsets sales figures....management responding with cost cuts.....Next is a no-charger in the box..... I see a HTC in the making then OP swallowedd by oppo (already on the way anyway)....enjoy it while it lasts....as for me, ill have to settle for a sammy :(

Rather than alert slider , i think 2 stage camera button is better. With remap function too

TBH most fans won't even care about this. I rarely use the slider in my phone. Idk if everyone else uses it on a regular basis but for me it's not a deal breaker if they decide to remove it. It's one of those features that's nice to have but not necessary

OnePlus only dying, not dead. I'm sick of seeing comments like "oh the 7 was the last oneplus phone"

no, the 7 pro and 7T were amazing. The 8 series is great, especially the 8T. The 9 series is good, too, unfortunately for most the 9RT is the best of them though. Actually, that's just a great phone in general.

The Nord and Nord 2 are good. Dimensity 1200 at least has some custom rom development as well. Despite lacking the alert slider, the original CE is a killer value.

What's symbolic of OnePlus dying is the Nord CE 2 and CE 2 Lite. It's phones shipping with Color. And things like taking the slider off of mainline phones.

They aren't dead, but rather on life support in a coma.

I like how they send out useless surveys to "guage" our experience and feigning genuine concern.

You don't need to do that. If you really cared, then you would listen to people who are crying over the perpetual mistakes you're doing to your brand and implement the changes we would like to see from you as a once trusted company.

This is very bad news. The alert slider has been cherished by many OnePlus fans over the years, and most people who buy their phones take it for granted. That's a shame because I wouldn't want to go back to a phone without one, to be honest. I find it to be way too useful.

Anyways, I've been seeing a lot of new stuff from OnePlus over the years:
                          120Hz screens
                          Even faster charging
                          The addition of wireless charging
                          5G connectivity

OnePlus died like 3 years ago, after the 7 series.

If Motorola can improve their software support and availability, they can be a major player again.
