I mean, if you like everything else in the phone, minus the slider, is not a good reason not to buy it. Otherwise we all be buying only iPhones from now on, because they have a slider, lol.

No slider - no buy. I was planing go buy the 10T because I want a flat screen OnePlus with alert slider. Seems that it is time to change my phone brand. Pitty

I don't like physical buttons controlling ringing ability of the phone. I had my switch accidentally flipped to silent twice in my pocket on iPhone. It was even dumber where some phones had volume rockers control ringtone volume for whatever dumb reason. Even when LOCKED!

That is why you see people returning to Samsung or even Apple nowadays. I am guessing, if people have a choice between Chinese phones or Samsung and Apple, when all of them have similar prices, they will go for the second option.

Now, Xiaomi and OnePlus started increasing their prices, so people have just returned to Samsung or Apple.
Two years ago, when Xiaomi was on the wave, all their fanboys were screaming they will be no.1 in 3 years. If anything they even lost market share to Realme for example. Because Realme have more competitive prices nowadays.
Similar situation with OnePlus. Even though they haven't been as popular as Xiaomi.

Oppo is doing to OnePlus, what Lenovo did to Motorola. Which is, utter disregard of finesse, attention to detail with quality both in software & hardware, customer expectations, trust with brand reliability. Ruining the good apple by keeping it with rotten apple.

Result, Motorola phones lost the unique appeal with user experience, longer software support, unreliable hardware due to corners being cut with cheap components. Brand trust thrown out of the window. Oppo is doing exactly that for OnePlus. Both ways, Chinese smartphone vendors instead of learning from these good brands, are ruining them by carrying over their own rotten qualities.

Brand dilution at its best... it's almost as if BBK has no clue why their phones were popular in the first place, and now they have their "best minds" "optimizing" BBK's holdings -- only their "best minds" aren't really that great.

[deleted post]To be honest, the two big global Chinese players (BBK and Xiaomi) both went to shit in the last few months and years. OnePlus becomes Oppo, Xiaomi downgrades new phones but with higher prices and still doesn’t fix their software. In contrast, Samsung and Apple both improved their biggest weaknesses, which are software support for Samsung, and battery life for Apple.
