Sony Xperia 1 IV disassembled on video, compared to the Mark 3

16 June 2022
The new periscope module on the 1 IV is only slightly larger than that of the 1 III. Other parts still need work, however, especially the cooling.

They launch it at $900 and a light ad campaign and they launch it on time and they'd be rubbing their hands with a lot of money at Sony but they'd rather sit on the bench or in their comfort zone! What does not convince me is the feverish Soc that it has, very well they could wait for the Gen 8 1 plus

The Flip, 16 Jun 2022Can Sony please make us a foldable flip phone? That's ... moreIf Sony had interest in flex oled, they would not had sold everything to LG in 2012.
Remember the oled screen that can stretch? It was one of the tech sold to LG.

Do not expect something like Z Flip from brands that have lower sales volume like Sony, Asus and Htc. This kind of device is not good from financial point of view.
Investment would not be covered by sales revenue unless they cannsell significant amount, which only samsung has achieved so far.

Can Sony please make us a foldable flip phone? That's my calling. That's my signature form factor. That's what got me deep into the hobby in 2004. Flip phones. I want to be Captain2Flips as a nod to Captain2Phones, Michael Fisher.

I actually tried going back to a slab 4 days ago. Went back using my iPhone SE (2016) and Essential PH-1. Typing from the latter as we speak and planning to store it away after I submit the comment. I just prefer flip phones. Each time I flip it open, it feels like a lightsaber.

My SE1 is a pain to use these days like my LG G5. It gets laggy and the touchscreen glitches started to hit on iOS15 where things don't register. First day, it's great. Miss the compact form factor. Second day, I wanted to throw it against the wall. Apps aren't optimized for that small screen. My Essential Phone held up much better.

Why can't Sony just make us a flip phone like the old Sony Ericsson days? Japan used them for years and were the pioneers of compact cameras. I don't want flip phones to only come from Samsung, Motorola, or Huawei. I want Sony to make one to offer us a Snapdragon, headphone jack, and microSD slot. The Huawei P50 Pocket doesn't cut it for me. No Google services either. Such a hassle.

Sony managed to fit in a 3.5mm audio jack in a phone that's only about 8mm thick, along with a healthy 5000mAh battery without becoming significantly thicker than its predecessor. Such an impressive feat of engineering.

Meanwhile, somebody else says there's no more room for a headphone jack....

put that in frame, it would look cool
