That's ridiculous.

So they can keep for the US market their lovely lightning port and give the rest of the world a typeC connector finally.

Galaxy S models had fingerprint scanner in the same year (2014)... You still need a password manager or something, I don't know how that was done in the past. I just know Android phones had massive problems with that, even when you set LastPass or similar to be a default password manager, you tapped into a field and... nothing happened. Password manager would come up at all. Then I had to manually copy password from LastPass and paste it into login fields. I've yet to see that problem on iOS. It just always unconditionally works and properly inwokes default password manager. I've never used Apple's iCloud Keychain tho, I prefer not to be locked into anyone's ecosystem.

Grey Wolf, 20 Jun 2022Dude, I had iPhones in the past. And I had for short period... more"Demand much more than they offer". You keep saying how you're not obsessed with specs on paper, yet you're doing just that. Which part doesn't it offer? It was 850€ when I bought it almost 4 years ago and I'd do it again pretty much in a heartbeat. Excellent performance on hardware and OS side? Check. Still very much decent camera? Check. Display? Check. I don't have a single issue with it. Displays good image and has surprisingly great blacks for LCD. Notch? I don't care, I love FaceID system that's residing in it. Battery? On paper it's small at 3000mAh, yet I get amazing life from it and I only charge it to 80%. Software support? Boy, it just makes any, even the best Android phones look like a joke. Even Pixels. Every single update I've received the moment it was released. Unconditionally. And I have more to come. Lightning? I've had USB-C before and it's literally a non issue. I maybe spent 15€ on Lightning cables in the time I had it, mostly for my car and to charge it at work. Wow, so problematic. It has some Apple specific quirks, but I've learned to live with them and they don't bother me that much. Like uploading ringtones via iTunes or lack of BT to transfer small files between my phone and some other Android. This was like the biggest of issues. The rest are just minor annoyances, not even problems.

I'll probably replace XR with some Android again just out of curiosity to see how much has Android phones progressed in last 5 years, but I'm not holding my breath (will probably just get Samsung, especially if they get rid of Exynos or fix the damn thing). Depending on what iPhones will look like this fall and next year, I might just stick with it because experience has been so great so far. I've not had such longevity from any Android phone and not want to get rid of it after just 2-3 years of use. Mostly because they always dropped software support for them.

Of course a brand new phone makes better photos and has bigger brighter display and has more of everything to tweak and set in Android, but I just plain don't care. If my phone was lagging with anything or make rubbish photos or super grainy and blurry image, I'd be annoyed. But it doesn't.

And I had for short period of time the iPhone Xr as my secondary phone (because I wanted to try it out myself before making assumptions about it). That is why I can speak about it and that is why I say is budget phone compare to any Samsung S or Note series phones from last 4 years. Even though it cost twice as much (if we are talking about 4 years Samsung phones) or the same price (if we are talking about 2-3 years old Samsung phones). Definitely not worth it.
Is not about specs on paper. I rarely look at this or more clearly, I am not interested only in this. I try the phones myself and I am talking about the experience of using them.

And is the same case scenario with phones like iPhone 11, SE2, SE3.

That is my main problem with Apple. They are too greedy and demand much more than what they offer. Maybe in the last 2 years they somehow started some improvements. Or more likely the other companies have decline.

USB-C was really only found on highest end devices where you expected latest and greatest components and on the rest of budget crap they still insisted on microUSB. But no one cares about hundreds of no name companies using microUSB, everyone is just hyper focused on Apple and their Lightning. The news have been flooded with clickbait articles about Apple and USB-C for like 2 weeks now. Great, everyone will be forced to use USB-C, but it's not an Apple only thing. Yet everyone presents it in clickbait articles like it is. Because everything around Apple generates f**k ton of clicks. But it's annoying like hell.

Stop reading all the crap about only 60Hz 720p LCD nonsense when even budget phones have 12000000000000000Hz displays at 8K and they are hyperplasmatic ultrahyperbolic OLED.
