Also self cracking screen and failing motherboard is cheap build. The z3 was the only set of decent speakers at that point on the zs. And the mono ones from samsung were better sounding.
The software was what set the galaxy apart back then. It was far more featured than any other device and the people claiming it lagged were no different then the ios users that claimed Android lagged in general. Just jealous fanboys. The reality was any and all phones had a little lag then.
And the battery was nearly same size. There were only a few hundred max different and endurance was similar.

So samsung has better displays, cameras, audio, software, and availability. So yeah they were more praised at the time.
Also didn't suffer severe motherboard failures and actually had customer support.

    Availability, weak camera and speakers, motherboard failures, self cracking glass, pitiful support, nearly a rip off of the z2, the z3v was really a z2, etc.

    You really don't know much about Sony do you?

      For me the z3 was the phone I'll remember forever.

      It was my absolute favourite to this day and why I switched from an iPhone 4s to Android. two day battery that could be stretched out go a week while camping in 2014 was unheard of. The camera sucked but had 20mp while the competition had like 6. It was slim but solid its os and custom apps were great and it was just a really well designed phone.

      The z5 after it disappointed me with its extreme heat problems and short battery life it was a major step backwards.

      I also picked up a z2 tablet and it was the best I've ever owned stunning display but light as a feather again the camera sucked but it was more of a couch Web browser for me to use it to look up things while gaming or as a chromecast remote.

      The xz premium was a nice phone to pretty impressive screen albeit underutilised by 90% of apps. It did manage to restore a little bit of faith in xperia after Sony really botched the z5

      My wife even loved them for their compact line up after I convinced her to give up samdung after the abysmal galaxy s5 to a really impressive z5 compact and x1 compact both of which were solid phones and in many aspects better than their big brother counterparts.

      Unfortunately the xz premium is where my xperia journey ended as they pulled out of Australia I couldn't easily get another phone despite really wanting a xz3 and xz5.

      I do hope they make a comeback one day with a solid foldable phone but the big players have advanced so much in their extra features while Sony was proudly close to vanilla as possible with the best custom apps

        Since xperia z ultra 9 years ago screen area actually went down lol. Camera resolution did not change much too. I used 4K screen, but it's not like its extra useful on that screen, if it was 7" or foldable it would be at least a bit different.
        Still remember gsma giving pointers for the right color reproduction settings.
        Hope they realize people want more, not less, even more in this media age.

          since 2011 I've only used sony and I've never regretted it. they are top because I like photography, multimedia

            I loves to scold manufacturers for useless things.
            Just like having 4K or 8K screen on a 6inch phone.
            Makes zero sense because no human can spot any differences.
            Like when people buy a 150W charger for Samsung, Sony or Apple phone.
            Also make zero differences.
            Just an example.

              Everything on 1 screen looks better compared to 5 series.

                As i said no huumman can spot differences and doesnt matter which brand Samsung, Sony, Xiaomi, Oukitel, Apple, Oneplus, Realme, Oppo, *Vivo TCL etc uses 4K screen.
                Its money tossed out of window for nothing.
                Its like if you buy a 150W charger for your Iphone. makes no sense at all.

                  That is why power saved is nothing. Otherwise they would last as much as phones with native lower resolution screen.

                    Why is SP listed as a Mini, when it wasn't a small sized flagship device, it was a midrange phone, with midrange specs.
                    In it's place in the table should be either ZR, or its successor Z1 Compact

Yes, you can live with 1080p all the time, but text readers, and gamers playing no anti aliased games absolutely need 1440p. It makes a big difference
                        Also, since you can choose to use 1080p or even 720p, what's the problem??? This is what I would've liked from 120hz screens. Option to choose 90hz, or 120hz, or adaptive hz between an interval, or 60, or even 30hz in some instances!
                        Removal of 1440p on flagships is just like the removal of micro sd, headphone jack, charger, etc. Etc.
                        Pushing the st*pid agenda.

                            You find even people that said iphone 7 and 8 should have had Full HD. Despite the tiny screen. But same people defent when chinese phone with 110cm2 screen has 1080p with low sharpness because pentile arrengement.

                            So, thing is not about using something but who is using. It is like when review points something as CON for any device but not against other.

Despite the amazing build quality, Sony phones run like garbage. Fake 5G, no VoNR, no VoWiFi, and minimal VoLTE compatibility. You know what a US model phone does in the US without VoLTE? Nothing. GSM is almost nonexistent.

                              The Xperia phones aren't even 4K unless it's a whitelisted app. If it's an allowed app, it can only use 4K until the phone overheats.

                                  Useless = until samsung or one chinese uses.

                                  Just like oneplus users, that used to say QHD of other phones was useless and just to make expensive. But all celebrated when 7 series brought QHD.

                                  Is it nice to watch 4K on FHD screen?

                                    All my Sony Xperia phones has been disappointing. Xperia XZ premium just died one day and never turned back on again. My XZ2 compact is stuck with android's home, multitask and back icons on the bottom. The only Sony phone I still have fond memories of was the Sony Arc, loved it's plastic back and form factor. Sony's software updates are few and leaves out a lot of new features, especially on my XZ2 compact. Very disappointing experience.

                                      It's 2018 and beyond where they sold just 6M units or below.

                                        1 series has same width of Z series. Just taller phone.
                                        How can it be remote control?
                                        Weird nobody said that about Z Fold 2, when folded same size of 5 ii.
