    I think your Mixing of ultra and premium is a bit confusing. The Ultra itself only means really large displays, and there were several models in the mid-range which would make it worth its own post (T2 Ultra, C4 Ultra, XA Ultra, …)
    Premium, on the other hand, is the above-flagship from Sony, so basically what is the Pro line of iPhones (and btw I can’t stand people who call the iPhone 13 – or back in the day the iPhone XR – „budget“. But that just as a side note)

      Wow! A decade if displays....which is only about 2 years further back than their screen brightness level!! Matching that amount about 8-9 year old phone displays!!

          Sony had a lot of good things going for them:
          - Good QC (no hardware issues like Pixels)
          - Clean Design (pretty ergonomic too)
          - Fluid OS (mostly stock, best updates besides Google/OnePlus)
          - Full Featured (no corners cut here)

          But they did have certain flaws:
          - No Availability (Outside of Japan, USA, and UK)
          - High Prices (not competing against Samsung, LG, or Other options)
          - Lesser Specs (storage size, RAM size, battery size)
          - Camera Inconsistencies (best hardware combined with poor software, or great software combined with average hardware)
          - Display Issues (low brightness, high power drain, higher latency)
          - Poor Management (early announcements, multiple releases a year, no marketing, and mixed signals)

          Now imagine:
          ...if they got someone in 2012 to be the leader in their Phone division
          - No more inconsistent strategy, but targeted goals
          - Massive marketing, lower-prices, and a huge demand from the industry
          - Fixed issues with their devices (display, camera, specs, battery)

          Here's what I'm thinking:
          2013, all phones have QSD 800, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, OLED, 80% StB ratio, sharp 12MP Cameras, loud Speakers, Stockish-OS with 3year update program
          Small: 4.6in 16:9 Flat, 720p, 2500mAh
          Medium: 5.2in 16:9 Flat, 1080p, 3000mAh
          Large: 5.8in 16:9 Flat, 1440p, 3500mAh

          2014 upgrades; QSD 805, 3GB / 32GB, 1/2.8" Camera, 16:9 ratio, 75% StB, +5% battery
          2015 upgrades; QSD 810, 4GB / 64GB, 1/2.5" Camera, 16:9 ratio, 75% StB, +5% battery
          2016 upgrades; QSD 820, 4GB / 64GB, 1/2.3" Camera, 16:9 ratio, 75% StB, +5% battery
          2017 upgrades; QSD 835, 6GB / 128GB, 1/2.1" Camera, 17:9 ratio, 80% StB, +5% battery
          2018 upgrades; QSD 845, 6GB / 128GB, 1/1.9" Camera, 17:9 ratio, 80% StB, +5% battery
          2019 upgrades; QSD 855, 8GB / 256GB, 1/1.7" Camera, 17:9 ratio, 80% StB, +5% battery

            JDi has shut down their Lcd production and moving to oled to supply Apple.
            Soon they get there, apple will get rid of samsung.

                        [deleted post]sony made amazing display but they dont sell their phones in indonesia. all i see is a samsung, vivo, realme, oppo, and xiaomi. still in 1080p display even in flagships. 2mp useless depth sensor usually found on budget and mid range phones. phone sellers in indonesia usually force people into buying vivo and oppo phones. where their midrange phones are so overpriced

                          I am impressed with what Sony did with the Xperia 1 screen, but I do think that 6.5" is too small for CinemaWide 4K resolution. If Sony makes a brand new Xperia Z tablet with such resolution, that'll make sense.

                            AnonD-731363, 03 Jul 2022Since when a 12 mpix camera with 4GB ram laughable prison O... moremore than 12mpix isnt neccessary. as long they capture wider dynamic range. unlike most 50mp phones that only produces oil painting. unless you only need to waste time on editing to improve it yourself. iPhone SE series are small but yes they have terrible battery life but the board will learn based on your usage. not like you who enjoy phablets (6.5 to 7 inches) cares about battery endurance so much that you game a lot on them. let alone tablets. and you can call iOS whatever you want. they are still optimized compared to others. its like comparing a toyota to a tesla. fast charging isnt neccesary if you charge the phone while fall asleep. degrading the battery life span much shorter. 4 to 6gb is enough for iphones.

                                    Some people really do compare a Japanese company to the Chinese one zz.. They worked hard on engineering their stuff. At least they kept every possible useful features their phones.

                                      Z1 Compact, 03 Jul 2022Why 2013 mini is not a Xperia Z1 Compact?The Z1 Compact was released in 2014. As as the Z3 Compact - back then Sony was doing two flagship releases a year.
