LG V50 ThinQ 5G is now receiving its Android 12 update

LG's dead mobile division keeps churning out new updates.

Honestly speaking, LG devices were pretty great.
But they didn't have much/if any marketing, not available in all locations, and their prices were always more affordable (which made consumers think they were lesser/cheaper products). Despite their advantages, I would say majority of their short-comings were simply from bad management.

After all the QC issues they had during the LG G4, G5, V10, V20 era... they really came around after that as great daily driver phones. They weren't as creative or experimentative as they once were, but at least the new devices worked, as expected, and consistently. Sure they always had something lacking compared to the competition, such as the Camera, Screen, Processor, etc etc. But you have to remember the LG devices were cheaper, and got massive discounts quickly if you asked or knew where to shop. So it wasn't quiet fair to compare them to the more expensive flagships coming from Samsung or other alternatives.

So the best way to do them justice is to actually compare the LG devices against last year phones:
LG G6 vs Samsung S7+
LG V30 vs Samsung S8+
LG G7 vs Samsung S8
LG V40 vs Samsung Note 8
LG G8 vs Samsung S9+
LG V50 vs Samsung Note 9
...now they don't look too bad !!!

Of course they would or else people like you would bash them about having phone with an older version of Android OS. There are people out there who don't buy a cheap phone and replace it every year.

And btw, I stand corrected about the Mi 10 flagship as it does indeed get Android 12 OS update. Can't say the same about Mi 9 flagship though.

Nowadays, this UX feels more like Stock Android but with a little shake up to the design, while still being light.

As for the G8s, that indeed is true. The S9 Plus was a full featured flagship, whereas the G8s was basically a value flagship. The reason why the S9 Plus easily outsold it and defeated it is beacuse of brand recognition and marketing, else I think the G8s would have been the victor.

(PS: I still do think a slight redesign to LG UX will make it more appealing and fun to use, but the current look still holds up in 2022 somehow)
