Nikon will reportedly stop making DSLRs to focus on mirrorless cameras

Increasing competition from smartphone cameras and mirrorless technology drives the industry shift.

They should just build a phone, they can't compete in mobility&price with full size cameras...
Not the mention 3+ lens at once, going from super wide to tele. No 12-120mm lens for cameras... at least there is none I could find.

Besides, is there even a need for such one, if the screen of these cameras are far from being great? So much so that even a budget phone has a better screen than these cameras. You want to run a full-desktop version of Adobe Lightroom on these supposed mirrorless cameras? Goodluck with that.

I don't know camera has something to do with gsm arena.
We should have separate website just for camera

Camera arena will be a great name (because we already have gsmarena and arena ev)

I think if possible, they can ace the DSLR game by keeping the mirror, and improving other things like giving high shutter speeds in a mirror design, or improving movie capabilities.

But its true, believe me or not, that mirror is one of the most space grabbing and unproductive thing in a DSLR. Even if we were to use display full time, the mirror's space can be used for a bigger battery.
Plus a mirror requires peeking into it, while display can be viewed from the sides so tight spaces argument is gone.
DSLR in mirror mode, in public spaces grabs attention by sound and visible peeking in.
Making a mirrorless discreet means just putting a cloth on top of it, or sealing it in a bag.

” “Nikon’s cameras have been losing out to smartphones, which increasingly feature powerful cameras,” writes Nikkei. “Nikon aims to beat them by offering products with more unique features.” ”

Not going to happen, people won’t use dedicated cameras anymore, only Pros will. Smartphone cams are crazy good nowdays for people to buy dedicated cam anymore.

DSLR are outdated anyway, why put unnecessarily complex, heavy Penta mirror, just for an optical view finder.

Mirrorless are so much more compact.

Will these genius camera makers ever realize they can include smartphone features to these cameras

Why can't they make it easier to edit on the same camera.. have better WiFi connection capabilities and be able to upload from the camera..

Don't get me started on the storage

Youd think by now they would think that there are some quality of life changes they can make to modernize these cameras
