Kuo: only the iPhone 15 Pro Max is getting a periscope lens

14 July 2022
Previously, it was assumed that both Pro phones will get the longer lens. However, that may not happen until 2024.

I want to add that when this prediction was released, the main camera of the iPhone was equivalent to 26mm. So one could even assume that one could get a 26x6=156mm camera with 1/3" type sensor and f/2.8 and then the effective lens diameter would have been 7.7mm. So, in the end, the indirect prediction of an effective lens diameter of up to 7.7mm was quite wrong.

    Kuo's prediction wasn't completely correct. 1/3
" type, f/2.8 and 5-6x sounded very good, the effective lens diameter would have been 7.1mm for 6x24mm=144mm, f/2.8, 1/3" type, but in the end it was only 5.59mm because it was just 120mm, f/2.8, 1/3.2" type.

I hope we will get 6X Periscope lens in iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max but can we get USB-C in in iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max in 2023 OR not?

It's a false statement that no Android phones in this size class has a periscope camera. Last year's Xperia 5 iii is a 6.1 incher and has one.

ME, 16 Jul 2022They talk like they make the camera ... it is made by Sony.Um, no, the SENSOR is made by Sony. A sensor doesn't make the camera. It's just a component. Camera is made of lenses, the sensor, the OIS mechanism, the DIS logic and finally image post processing. Pretending this isn't Apple's "camera" because ultimately they don't physically manufacture anything is just absurd and hilarious at the same time.

Sorry, I used 7.6 instead of 8.6 for the crop factor of 1/3.6" type sensors. So if it's 6x24mm = 144mm and a 1/3.6" type sensor, then the effective diameter would be just 6mm and this would be still better than most periscope cameras. Though, Kuo writes 5-6x. If it's just 5x24mm = 120mm and a 1/3.6" type sensor, then the effective diameter would be just 5mm, worse than several competitors.
