The Flip, 18 Jul 2022I would choose two smaller phones over a dual screen phone.... morePersonally, flip phones are not for me and they are too expensive. Your two flip phones sell for $649.99 each. Small, lightweight phones have always been my favorites (I have small hands and long fingers). If I needed a new phone, I'd be very happy with a Galaxy S22 5G (6.1"-167g) or Pixel 6a (6.1"-178g).
I never put a case on my phone because it feels more awkward to hold in my little hand.
It's a shame the Xperia Ace series isn't sold outside of Japan, even Sharp sells great little phones.
The Japanese love the #teampixel too, the Pixel 5a was exclusive to Japan and North America. Can't blame the Japanese, the Pixel 5 (6.0"-151g) is the perfect size and weight. Ever since Google released their pixels, they've all been sold in Japan, they seem to like the #teampixel too much.
The Galaxy Z Fold3 retails for $1,799.99 and I'd never pay that much for a phone 🤣

The S10e just barely cuts it as compact.

I would choose two smaller phones over a dual screen phone. Surface Duo 2 is packing a 4449 mAh battery powering two 5.8" displays. Flip 3 is 3300 for a 6.7" internal and 1.9" external. Razr 5G is 2800 for a 6.2" internal and 2.7" external. That's 6100 mAh over 4449 mAh. That's more efficient in the long run.
I do prefer the Duo concept more than the Fold 3 and Find N. Two displays seems way more productive than just one giant display. But I'll stick to my foldable clamshells. None of them are perfect but they're the best for my needs. I grew up in 80s & 90s Japanese technology that tried to miniaturize everything. Most compact digital cameras still come from the Japanese.
Michael Fisher said compact phones will come from foldable clamshells. I believe it's a yes and no. Yes, they're small when closed. The external display can be useful enough but not quite since most apps are viewed in portrait. But no, because the foldable tech is still young and unproven. A generation of kids never grew up on flip phones like we did. And they're still quite tall and heavy when opened. Then thick when closed.

Whoever wrote obviously didn't do proper research. serioulsy, this piece is so poorly written.
"These days Apple is the only one making a phone that is both small and actually powerful. Samsung flirted with the idea not too long ago, the Galaxy S10e was its smallest flagship in recent years"
Asus released the Zenfone 8 last year with a 5.9 120 Hz display and SD 888. It's even anounced that this July 25, its sequel, the Zenfone 9, will be unveilved officially. there's not even a mentioned of the Sony Xperia II and III even though those were compact flagships
don't ever write anything this incomplete again

5.8 to 6.0 with minimal bezel is my sweet spot. And less than 150g would be ideal. Not much of a choice these days though.

memyselfandI, 18 Jul 2022I am alright with bigger screen but what I really miss is;
... morebattery not coming back because being difficult to repair is a plus for the brand.
16:9 not happening unless u want black bars or those grippy things
metal backs are more expensive and interferes with wifi and wireless charging

I had E63, I had 5230, both with 128 MB RAM and it was barely usable. Three, four apps at most, and once I tried navigation, nothing else could be used. Then I switched to low-end Galaxy 550 with 256 MB RAM and it was much better, even though it had android and Samsung's infamous Touchwiz.
And what's most important - symbian was really terrible in touch control. It was great as a non touch system, and with E63's keyboard a great texting device, but that was all. Symbian also might have had a lot of apps, but no central app store containing all of them. Even in 2010 I had to download many apps I used from different places and websites, because they were not in the store. A concept viable for mobile geeks used to continuous tuning of their devices, but not as a system for a crowd of inexperienced users.

It’s sad that small phones are no longer popular. The iPhone 5 / 5S were the most beautiful small phone designs ever IMHO. They still look great today. And the 5S was genuinely powerful too. Sad that Apple are planning to stop selling the 13 mini. :(

blue, 18 Jul 2022Everything. And mainly - it had far more apps in the store.... moreNot true Symbian had more apps than Android at that time, and popular apps at that time came first to symbian before android like whatsapp,
Also Android used to be known as lagdroid, symbian could multitask even 100 apps with just 64mb of ram, Android couldnt at that time.
You are suffering from recency bias, Android wasnt good before 2.3, When Galaxy SII came and sold millions of units then Android started to dominate.

I use medium size phone (samsung galaxy s4 mini). Nowadays even medium size phone use very little amount of people. Almost all use extra large, little part of people use large phones (for example apple ihpone 13 mini) and very small part of people use medium size phones (for example samsung galaxy s4 mini, Apple iPhone 5s) and extremely little amount of people use very small phone (for example Samsung E590).
