Besides, XZ compacts were larger than other phones with similar screen size due to large upper and lower chin.

You answer : number of sales too low compared to large variant. When small phone sells no more than 20% compared to karge phone, brands feel no reason to keep making them.

I have the xiaomi 12X and the size is awesome. Especially its widht 69.9mm which feels great in hand. It has an awesome battery life too, that against the general opinion of youtubers that say you will have to compromise battery if you want a compact phone.

                    I've always liked compact phones.

The S22 has a very good size and weight, though I prefer rounded edges. Zenfone 9 looks promising too.

Maybe the problem is that S22 is quite expensive and Zenfones are not very popular. But Xiaomi 12X is cheaper.

I understand that other people may want something smaller like the iPhone mini. Or a more affordable compact.

                    More choices are always welcome.

AndroidAuthority, 17 Jul 2022The 12 is 6.2 in fairness, small compared to the competition.I agree 12 an 12X size is awesome to me.

I've always liked compact phones and these feel really good in hand. Mainly because of its widht

Anonymous, 17 Jul 2022I think now the only small flagship phone that still remain... moreisn't it bigger than S22?

There are tiny smartphones out there that cost less than $60 like the SOYES XS11 3G on Amazon. You can also get the Unihertz Jelly 2. Guess what? Battery life is atrocious on them even if you don't use them throughout the day.

That's the thing. You want everything on a tiny phone but it's impossible. You can't expect great battery life on a tiny phone while it's powering high resolution and refresh rates. That's the sacrifice when you want a small phone. The poorest battery life and poorer camera quality.

This is why I stopped getting interested in phones since getting the Flip 3 and Razr 5G within 3 weeks apart last year. The only way I can get great battery life is from a large device like the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Even the Pixel line won't be returning to the Pixel 4a/5 size any time soon.

We're stuck with large devices from here on out if we want flagship specs that excels well in all aspects like battery life and cameras.

EskeRahn, 17 Jul 2022Well isn't it sort of the other way round, that Androi... moreGoogle was only focused on Apple and the competition there. And they did fine with or without Nokia. But there wasn't room for another big os on the market. Nokia said no to Android, in favor for Microsoft and gambled big there. And it costed Nokia everything. Google had nothing to do with it.

Of course the Android competitors have much better battery life but they are useless for someone looking for a midrange compact phone.

I still buy them because of one hand usage. That‘s what is so weird about me when people classify the Z Flip as small. It may be small in the pocket, but that is no use for me when I unfold it and am greeted by a massive 6.4 inch screen that I could never reach the top of the screen with one hand.

The 4.7 inch iPhones have no problem with displaying websites or apps. Everything still feels like it was made for that size. The 4 inch ones though, those can get slightly ugly on 2022 websites, sadly.
