It now gets quite amusing how they manage to keep recycling similar SoCs year after year, they're certainly managing that stock very carefully.
The fact that the independent Honor continues to lose ground in the market despite inheriting most of Huawei mobile's technology speaks to what actually made those Huawei models sell. Well, the fact that the Party keeps throwing wrenches into the works of China's economic recovery by going on lockdown frenzies isn't exactly helping.

AnonD-731363, 29 Jul 2022If you say so.
BHut kirin is different from Qualcomm. 835, 845, 855, 865 do not have issues.
If Kirin had core X2, would be same story as D9000/8g1.
People complain too much. They get horrified if phone with 888/8g1 is 44 celsius.
Full power SD810 can pass 70 celsius doing same tasks.

For me beside YouTube anything else from Google easy replaceable.
I would say that if huawei can produce kirin chips again, they can come back easy.

Ohhh, so good to see a long lost beauty coming back.
Still in some years i could easily live with 4G.
And Kirin my love, anytime over Snapdragon for sure. Most stable overall chip i ever had.
I have the Mate 20X with Google and Harmony 2, i luke this much more vs my Mi 11 ultra and S22 ultra. Its nearly a brand new M20X, my number 2. A chinese 8/256gb with a global rom, baked in call recorder... Hurrrraaa for Aliexpress. Around 2 days battery life as ussual with M20X, no lag no nothing, just good performance... Still today.
My 2 other phones are power hungry, even i use all 3 on 4G, no AOD and same 60hz refresh rate.
Best flagships out there ever, in my opinion, if its with Kirin 🌞

Anonymous, 29 Jul 2022I guess HiSilicon was finally allowed to manufacture on mor... moreThe Kirin 990 was already on 7nm (from tsmc) and that will be 'better' than the SMIC 7nm.
However, the SMIC 7nm achievement is noteworthy and isn't the only 7nm output from China. A Chinese auto maker also announced mass production of a 7nm chip (presumably within China) for the second half of this year.
Huawei HiSilicon has taken important investment steps to eliminate dependencies on US technology. That will take time to come to fruition though.
But, that said, I believe they will reach their goals far faster than anyone currently estimates.
As for the 9000s, little to nothing is known but Huawei promised new chips for this year and has made breakthroughs with chip stacking technologies so there might be a thread to pull on there. Or perhaps the new chips won't be Kirin but rather Ascend, Kunpeng etc.
Could the 's' be for 'stacked'?
If it were an important achievement I think they would have booked showtime for IFA Berlin (the habitual place for Kirin releases) but AFAIK they haven't booked anything yet.

Nick Tegrataker, 29 Jul 2022Or maybe just a clocked up/binned version of Kirin 9000 tha... moreI think that's likely it. Some of the the Chinese leakers on Weibo are saying the Mate 50 and Mate 50x will have the Snapdragon 8 gen 1 4g, the Mate 50 pro will have the snapdragon 8 gen 1+ 4g and the top model, the Mate 50RS will have the Kirin 9000s. If those leakers are correct then there probably is very limited stock of the Kirin 9000s

I mean, hopefully it's something new, but the possibility is pretty low at this stage.

Great to see Huawei back to the use of Kirin processors. I found Kirin way more efficient than Snapdragon when it comes to battery life. It's been 3 years since I have my Huawei P30, the battery capacity is down to 80% according to accubattery and I get Huawei notifications suggesing me to replace the battery but I still get more than 5h SOT despite an extremely heavy smartphone user.... That's something I never ever had with any Snapdragon or Exynos flagship after 18months, let alone after 36 months.
I'm happy with the trade off of not having 5G if it means my battery will give me more than 5h SOT after 3 years owning the phone. Too bad the Mate phones are too big for me
