There's no Android phone manufactures that have smaller display and no bottom bezel other than S22.
Just make S22 with cheaper price. Downgrade the SoC, downgrade the camera, put fingerprint on the side (downgrade), downgrade the Vuctus glass, downgrade IP rating, remove wireless charging, remove barometer, downgrade type C 3.2 to 3.1 or 3.0.

I think in 30 years when we look back at smartphone history, the most interesting era happened between 2007-2013. It's like video games. The most interesting happened from 1991-1998 especially with what Sega was doing.
The 5th generation of video games became the Wild, Wild West with several failed consoles including the Apple Pippin. But it was the most progressive era. That's smartphones from 2007-2013. It's mostly become stale since 2017 but also improved internally like expected.

Smartphones sold 1.3B last year.
Dumb phones sold 1B last year.
That's according to ColdFusion's recent video. Millennials have been the ones buying dumb phones the most. They're the ones realizing this Internet addiction isn't healthy. They're the ones who want to digital detox the most and they've used Internet for most of their life.
I plan keep all my smartphones since I put so much money on them but I deleted the one app that killed my time the most: YouTube. It's starting to get glitchy from each update on both OSes. I can't see myself doing what Selena Gomez did for 4.5 years. I'll still use Internet. It's still useful. But I'll only use it at night or if I really need it for something.
Who knew it's the iPhone SE (2016) with its atrocious battery life on iOS 15.6 that's going to break my Internet addiction? I call it the GOAT iPhone. It's beautiful, compact, has headphone jack, and battery is easy to replace. My four more advanced smartphones no longer has many apps like Netflix. Phone and messages are hidden. They're practically retired and I'm still paying for my Flip 3 and Razr 5G.
My forced habit using an iPhone with terrible battery life and to get off the Internet is now using mostly music, Pandora, and Castbox for podcasts. I now use YouTube or browse less than 10 minutes per day instead of the 3+ hours. The SE is changing my life and for the better. Yeah, it's boring but it's making me happier. Stop being a smartphone zombie.

1. Lower prices! Some flagships should ... more1. Top models sell perfectly even with the higher prices, why cutting them down? Samsung's numbers are made by S22 series (mainly the most expensive S22 Ultra), Apple's by iPhone 13 series, the latest and most expensive series.
2. Impossible, since making small phone is not cheap. Or if it is, the phone would be unusable. It is easy and cheap to pack good power into large body, it is very expensive to do it in small scale. Usually the first and most affected would be the battery.

Chinese phone shipment didn't decline because of lockdown . No . People buy Chinese phone for one reason ... They put good CPUs for less price . That is all . Because of chip shortage , they made phone with less powerful CPUs at same price .. hence the fall..

Two suggestions:
1. Lower prices! Some flagships should get a price cut.
2. Compact AFFORDABLE phones! Imagine a S22 or Zenfone9 size around 200-300€/$

Number of rich people in China has increased over the years.
Rich people there choose iphones over local brands.
This is why you see articles like " xiaomi ceo/founder caught using iphone". "Huawei founder seen using iphone and his daughter has ipad/macbook".
