Samsung Display will make better panels for the iPhone 14 Pro duo than for the vanilla models

01 August 2022
LTPO panels built with newer materials will be used for the two Pro phones, while the iPhone 14 and 14 Max will get cheaper panels.

Grey Wolf, 01 Aug 2022Even though I do admit that the human eye can get used in t... moreUm, no. I had OLED displays back in 2010 already. They were fine, but then I had great LCD's a decade later and I was fine with them. I've been gaming on 144Hz display for a decade, but couldn't care any less about it on smartphone. Maybe if you're a gamer, it's important, but for every day use, I just don't care. Also unless it's adaptive I don't need it, because it's unnecessarily wasteful and thus pointless.

Also at no point I said it makes no difference, I just said if it's fixed high refresh rate it's silly and that it doesn't really mean much to me. If iPhone will come with high refresh rate as standard, then great. But I wouldn'ot go out of my way to get one with it.

If there will be no difference, then why Apple put pro motion in their Pro models? Just for show of?
And probably they will put pro motion in vanilla iPhone 15 next year. So, even Apple admits this makes a difference. Is just people like you who want to defend their 60Hz displays, that don’t admit it.

It was the same discussion years ago when Apple was using only LCD panels (before iPhone X), but Android phones already started introducing Oled panels. After Apple started using Oled panels, by magic Oled displays were better.
That is why I dislike Apple fanboys. You say just what you want, until Apple does it, then you change your opinion 180 degrees, to align it with Apple’s.

Poor fruit, what would they do without their biggest enemy? Can't live without them, but they sue them for everything.

ProMotion display my a??. This guys can't help them selves giving names for "nothing new" tech. Retina display, bionic chip and whatever other crappy names for plain tech that exists for years on other devices. As for high refresh rate...that's something that i can't call innovation. One could leave that out and do some usefull innovation.

So the vanilla iphone 14 will be worse than expected

Also tried 120Hz on Galaxy A52s and it was like, whatever. It's just sharper during motion itself, doesn't actually feel any smoother as such. I don't quite care if webpages are slightly less sharp during scrolling itself or menus during transition. Been using 144Hz display for gaming though since like 2013 iirc. So I do know how high refresh rate looks and feels like where it matters.

But hey, you do you with your "must have 120Hz or the phone is useless".

Are we supposed to believe now that materials science advances yearly coincidentally with phone cycles with brand new "materials" (which is not vague at all) and that we will have phones based on m10 m11 m12 etc? I'm sure it's not just marketing jargon and the components are not pretty much the same, no.
