Weekly poll results: tiny Asus Zenfone 9 stirs big excitement

07 August 2022
It's pricey, sure, but a lot of people are strongly considering buying one. The limited software support drew some criticism, but not enough to turn the vote negative.

Do you honestly believe that most people that voted yes or maybe are actually going to spend 800 for this phone? Yeah right....

Dude most people in gsmarena(if you have checked comments in many articles)are with redmi/poco devices or similar priced phones from other manufacturers.

LoneOwl, 08 Aug 2022Well you obviously havent checked gsmarena(or reddit)becaus... moreSo you read people claim that on Reddit but come here instead for your counterargument? Because I don't see anyone saying that in the comments section of this particular article (since we're commenting here) nor is there anyone saying that's the impression they got from this. I mean how could you get that impression when the article basically said the survey results are favorable to the phone only because most readers who voted are its target customers (so not a good representative sample)?

What I noticed here and in other comments section of similar GSMArena articles are the minorities essentially having to defend the existence of this phone as one of their very few options while some people from the large-phone-loving majority keep putting down this niche market like it doesn't exist.

Snapdragon 855 still hold until middle of 2023. Middle to low tier phone today still struggle to get close to any aspec of s855 flagship.
You are not gonna get 3 solid lens with OIS and headphone jack, also SDcard if lucky all bundled together in any cheap phone.
You can shoot 4k 60fps with old flagship, but not with any mid tier phone today.

I don't understand why the companies aren't coming with phones that are small in size and cheap. How many of the consumers can afford flagship phones? Many a people is looking to buy a small phone, but they can't because all the small phones are coming with a huge price tag.
Not all are looking for flagship performance. And not all the common people use phones to consume multimedia content in a big screen.

I would prefer to have a 4.5" screen, 6/128 memory, 12/12 camera and good sound enabled smartphone. This is palm friendly.

There is really a huge difference between having excitement and actually buying it.

Pixel and Sony are both wins people enthusiasm, but in real world each of them only has fewer than 1% market shares.

And I certainly did not claim that "Asus in general relies on Zenfone sales". (What's up with this? Are you saying Asus should give up on Zenfone because they don't rely on its sales anyway?)

You can literally count with your fingers how few the phones in this niche are, even including those that barely fit the bill, but some people here act like that's still too many options for a market they're not a part of. Smh

We are just pointing out that these type of phones are indeed niche market products and not ''what most people want/need''.

Also, Asus in general doesnt rely at all on Zenfone sales in general.

And as for the S22,like somebody else mentioned, still the most sold one is the more expensive and bigger Ultra.

Iphone SE is irrelevant when we are talking about flagships.... And as for Asus, let me remind you their true flagship and the phone they are most well know for, the gaming Rog series.

If people really cared about compact flagships, Xperia 5 series would sell like hotcakes.
