Weekly poll results: tiny Asus Zenfone 9 stirs big excitement

07 August 2022
It's pricey, sure, but a lot of people are strongly considering buying one. The limited software support drew some criticism, but not enough to turn the vote negative.

b)it has way smaller battery.

And its not my theories. The lower cost was the reason the previous generation iphones were the most sold ones by a huge margin(11,XR etc).

Thats the reason the bigger and more expensive 13 pro max sold way more than the more compact and less expensive 13pro.

Thats also the reason the 13mini sold way less than 13.

    Its not rocket science.

Soon only the cheapest phones will remain for card lovers.

yes getting flagship performance on cheap is difficult. especially when one may just be an iphone cosplayer and not want to bother with unlocking and flashing something like the moto X30 (sd8g1) to a global rom, even if it saves them hundreds of dollars to do something easier than the actual job they go to daily...

        but anyways

I think many want this exact phone, but with something like 778 and the missing amenities for $300usd. it's more than possible, and it would most likely bring in more profit than way less sales from a $$$ flagship. If it's not Crapple or Scamsung, normies don't know it exists

Still. I'd imagine many are looking to finance this expensive jewel somehow. personally working on my credit score to be able to get paypal credit for this phone

Asus really needs to make this phone cheaper for it to be successful. The target audience of this phone is comprised of people willing to spend £500 or less, people who like practicality and not gimmickry and style.

But Asus has priced it at around £750 and people who spend that much on a phone prefer style and gimmickry over practicality. They'll rather go for Google, iphone, Samsung, Xiaomi etc who offer stylish, impractical devices instead of something practical such as Zenfone 9. Look at what happens to the practical Sony Xperia 5 series, it can't compete in that price range. Audience at this price would take gimmicky wireless charging, large screen, glass back etc over practical features such as headphone jack, compactness, microSD card etc.

Only if Asus prices it around £500 it would sell crazily. Asus needs to solidify it's base among the correct audience.

                Great compact phone

I can't support ASUS since they decided to copy stock Android. Now the OS is ugly looking and less functional.

I'll give them another chance when they copy OneUI, LG UX, or even make their own design.

I can't support Asus after they went full retard and started using stock Android. Now the notification shade and quick settings have been completely ruined both visually and in a usability way.

When they decide to copy OneUI or get their own design language I'll reconsider them.

blue, 07 Aug 2022Most phones are large, because it is cheaper to make them l... moreYes, making small phones requires more engineering effort, which most companies see as secondary when the markets they are selling to cares more about specs than size.
The larger the phone is the easier it is to fit components into it. You can like Apple or not, but they are releasing about 4 phones a year, while each of their competitors might release a dozen, that obviously means that the engineering time per phone has to be cut down and size is an easy fix.

What people keep forgetting ist that the Zen 9 is only a little bit smaller than the *regular* iPhone. A "small" Android phone is the size of the regular iPhone and that is the size people like me, actually would like for a phone.
I can completely believe that the iPhone mini was too small for most people but it really is not a good comparison.

Wireless charging should have been included considering the price tag.
