They made a small phone but it had only 64 GB of base storage, and the phone itself was very expensive at $1000 in most regions outside USA. That makes it a terrible value for money. On top of that, Apple overcharges lot for even memory upgrade, so it further lessens the value for the cash. Hence, the mini didn't sell as much. Zenfone 9 is different because it offers a lot more for lesser and most importantly, it's battery life is far better than the mini 12 iPhone

It'll just never work. You either go with "we'll be making them for as long as we don't do losses on them" or you just don't do it at all. It's a bit odd that they decided to go with just 1 model instead of usual 2 sizes, but who knows what was their reasoning.

Even before Apple released the iPhone Mini, many people insisted that they would buy a small and powerful smartphone if it came out. However, the iPhone was also disappointed that sales of the mini were much lower than expected, and from 2022, the iPhone will release a larger iPhone instead of the mini series. This phone too, people are excited, but the reality must be terrible.

blue, 07 Aug 2022If they don't like, they have "no, it's not ... moreYeah, I mean it would've been clearer if the "No" option were at least split into 2: (1st) No, small phones are not for me (2nd) No, size is ideal but lacking some hardware (MicroSD slot, wireless charging etc) that other competition offers. It wouldn't change the result that more than half voted "yes", that's for sure. It would just be more specific for the "No" votes.

Tiny?? It's the perfect size for what a mobile phone should be. I dont want to carry around 7-8 inch tv in my pocket or hand. I have been waiting for such display size since galaxy s8.

Would've been better if the poll had 2 levels with the first survey asking whether someone likes small phones or not. And those who answered yes should proceed to the next level with the options initially presented on the article.
The way it was formatted, there's no way of telling how many of those who voted "no" just don't like small phones altogether and how many of them are interested in small phones just not the Zenfone 9 in particular (for reasons other than the relatively shorter software support).

1st if I must go with a compatible device I rather grab a Galaxy note 10(android) or 13 mini (ios)

If only it wasn't for the os build and lack of support, it would be interesting. But the s23 isn't much bigger and has a lot better support.

If ASUS can make a Lite version with Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 or Snapdragon 778G+ and sell it for not more than $599 for the base 128GB internal storage, that'd be epic.

There's a huge gap with the segment of compact flagship phones.
Options are very slim:
Galaxy S22
Sony (but their height is too much)
Zenfone 9
Xiaomi 12x
I wish Asus success with sales so they won't end up like HTC or LG.
I might end up with an iphone for the first time ever, since they deliver compact high quality phones.
