Not being cocky but I'm pleased that the phone I'm using currently is one of the most, if not, the most durable phone to be ever tested by JerryRigEverything! At least it holds up well compared to every (if not, most) generic model that gets released everyday

Rayray , 28 Aug 2022So , in your tiniest piece of brain 🧠 left in your head , a... moreOh yeah, one more thing. If I break my own phone because of my own stupidity in sitting down on it, I blame -MYSELF-, not the manufacturer who made the phone (an overpriced phone, but still). I was the careless one, I took the stupid risk; I suffered the consequences. Go figure! Take better care next time!

People here put too much emphasis on videos of YTbers breaking phones and not on themselves or their own habits. Or better yet: BUY A CHEAPER PHONE so you won't feel so sad when it breaks, if you're so careless!

I've spoken enough. Do whatever you want with your phone. I'm happy with my 4-year-old one that hasn't had any damage, not even a cracked screen. Wanna know how I kept it that way?

Rayray , 28 Aug 2022So , in your tiniest piece of brain 🧠 left in your head , a... moreNah. I don't expect phones to be made of "fragile materials". But I DO expect them to snap or at least get bent if I sat on them. A human body can put a lot of stress on any object - do I expect an external hard drive to be OK if I put strength into bending it? NO. Same with phones. Don't be careless, don't be reckless, put a case on it. And don't be stupid.

A, 27 Aug 2022I'll say it. If you're stupid enough to sit down ... moreSo , in your tiniest piece of brain 🧠 left in your head , a phone should be made with a expiration date , build in a way that to not be resistent enough to just about anything , better build it out of French crystal , so that it would go to a million pieces by the smallest impact/ pressure
That's what brainless stubborn humans ( like you ) and a few others are looking for
But when it happens to one of you , then the case turns out to be a manufacturing defect , right

Breaks easier than a frozen chocolate. Even newer Android Nokias that brainless trolls keep trolling about are still better than this corpse company and all the others with their boring designs and bloated UI

I'll say it. If you're stupid enough to sit down on your phone, you deserve to have your phone bent/snapped. I don't care if it's in your back pocket or even more stupidly, you left it on top of the seat itself. Phones are high-tech electronic devices (probably the most important one you'll ever own at any time) used for EVERYTHING. And should be treated with special care.

Who defines what force phone is supposed to endure in day to day life? Do the day to day life differ by country? By profession?
How do they come up with 45kg force? Is it based on average individual? Of a certain country or globally? Is it the average force exerted or is the max force exerted by an individual?

"That would be like saying the pipes in your house are structurally weak because you decided to take a hacksaw to one and managed to cut it in half lol."
lol of course. He definitely didn't break it using a hacksaw but by mere fingers. It is actually like saying that the pipes in your house are structurally weak because it broke when you are fitting an accessory to it.

"He didn't "prove it was structurally weak""
Yes, he didn't prove it is structurally weak. But he proved there are lot many structurally stronger phones out there.

Tluanga34, 23 Aug 2022If it's so real world scenario, how many people break ... moreIf you hang on a rope the force is applied in the entire rope. But if there is a week spot, the rope will break at that exact spot irrespective of if you apply the force on entire rope or not. But the quantity of force is key, and in this case the force put by a person accidentally sitting on a phone is much higher than the force put by his fingers.

Anonymous, 25 Aug 2022He didn't "prove it was structurally weak", ... moreMaybe if you actually WATCHED JerryRigEveryThing you'd understand that hundred of phones (including older OnePlus devices) have survived this same exact bend test over the years without any issue. Your comparison doesn't hold up. Because if water pipes in the past were able withstand that same hacksaw, why in the f*ck would you make the new pipes weaker and break under the same pressure? While also being far more expensive than previous iterations?

Regardless if its a real life scenario, structural integrity is quite obviously worse than older devices. This just shows you how much OnePlus has gone to shit. The company has turned into nothing more than an Oppo rebrand. The company is a shell of it's former self and dozens of factors play a part in it. Carl Pei is gone, OnePlus completely ditched the 'Never Settle' motto and abandoned their original ideals to undercut flagship pricing significantly while still offering most of the same premium features, now they just offer less features for the same absurd premium price. OxygenOS sucks now, it's just as sluggish and unpleasant to use as any other heavily skinned android out there. OnePlus is nothing what it used to be. From the hardware, the software, the pricing, individuality, and now the build quality even suffers. Goodbye OnePlus.

I'm not a fan of intentionally breaking multi-hundred dollar phones just for the LULz. Intentionally trying to bend a phone isn't normal use so who cares. If you do dumb ish, your phone might break. If you don't it won't. This applies to all smartphones.
