That’s nice, but what’s the point? OEMs seem to love using outdated SoCs: most of this years’s premium mid-rangers use the outdated Snapdragon 778G, instead of Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. It’s almost impossible to find phones with Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.
For this reason, I wouldn’t be surprised if OEMs will continue to use the slower Snapdragon 695 and 680, even after the release of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1.

IpsDisplay, 27 Aug 2022I mean Snapdragon 7gen chipsets are a joke and this 6 gen ... moreCan't agree with that. They're not a joke. It's all down to user requirements. Series 6 is pretty much budget range. So for everyday tasks, it's fine and can do gaming at medium settings at good enough framerates. Series 7 is a step up but still won't be able to cope with certain gaming AAA titles at the highest graphics without buffer and dropping frames and series 8 can do pretty much anything. Qualcomm never made any secret of this graduated approach and they cost phones accordingly. Mediatek have plenty of midrange chipset like the dimensity 700, 810 or 900 and the Helio G90 series. You have to look at the dimensity 1000 series and above to get stellar power and performance.

sixtymes, 27 Aug 2022it seems like we wont see 3nm until 2024? Wait few months and you will see it on all flagship phones,
wait few more and you will see it on every budget phone.
Now days companies prioritize techprosses node more then cpu cores.

Mmmma, 27 Aug 2022Mediatek won the budget and midrange segment.
Pricing and ... moreNot just won, but dominated.
MTK sells more cpus then Qualcomm, and they made reputation with their dimancity series.

4nm for 6 series cpu and 2.2ghz max boost (seams like a53) and maybe hexacore, weirdest thing I have heard this year.

Mmmma, 27 Aug 2022Mediatek won the budget and midrange segment. Pricing and ... moreI agree except image signal processor in many MediaTek SoCs, Qualcomm are better, except for such exceptions as Snapdragon 680 and 695.

glad to see 4k video recording capabilities are back to 600series SD. SD 680 and 695 was horrible when it comes to ISP.

Grey Wolf, 27 Aug 2022I think a very good chipset is the Dimensity 8100. Sadly, i... moreMaybe have a look at the K50 & K50 Pro (sadly China exclusive afaik & xiomi being xiaomi, did a terrible job bringing them outside despite the already confusing naming scheme)
They are available on Giztop for pretty cheap (

for those who don't know why qualcomm has change the names for series 8,7,6 and soon for the 4 series, there is only one reason.
New series are with arm v9. Old series was with arm v8. With new names every customer will know if the SoC is only 64bit or 32/64bit

Imagine that the vanilla, non-Pro now is more expensive than last year's Pro while downgrading the camera setup & size)

I mean Snapdragon 7gen chipsets are a joke and this 6 gen 1 looks like joke too
Only the 8+ gen 1 is a proper chipset from Qualcomm
Qualcomm can't compete with mid range chipsets from mediatek
Mediatek's mid range options eat anything Qualcomm has to offer in the 7 and 6 series for breakfast
But for the 109 people on the planet that want custom ROMs I guess Qualcomm it is..
