Meanwhile, the Oppo Reno8 Pro (China) is the only one with Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.

The only smartphone that I saw released with that chipset is the Poco X4 GT. But, Xiaomi and Poco cut too many corners to put that chipset on that model. I mean, good chipset, but everything else in the phone is not that appealing to me. Is more like a phone only for gaming.

it seems like we wont see 3nm until 2024?

We went from a 765/768 to a 778 and then it went all downhill for Snapdragon middle class. Same with Mediatek. All they released in their middle class was a 1050 (which is like 765) and a 1300 (which is like 1200).

They released SD 7 gen 1 for nothing. I didn't see any smartphone released with that chipset.
Everybody is using SD695, SD680, Dimensity 920 or some Mediatek old chipsets (like Helio G96 or whatever). And Samsung is using Exynos 1280.
Mid-range or budget phones from this year are looking far less appealing than last years.
Of course, not everything is about the chipset. But, at least use the better options that you have on the market. Or sell the phones at better prices, if you are cutting corners.

The whole Gen 1 marketing have been a disaster with all the overheat issues, and didn't help when Mediatek the makers of crap p10 and Helio processors started making genuinely great CPUs like the 9000 and 8100.
