Apple might be bringing back the classic battery percentage as part of the new status bar.

Anonymous, 04 Sep 2022Majority of the people don't like how iOS is managed b... moreThat's the lie you all keep repeating. Firstly, Apple at least has an actual ecosystem, so that's that. If you WANT to use it. And secondly, no freedom? Really? Are you sure? Guess what, I'm using an iPhone and I don't use any Google or any Apple services. AT ALL. Everything on my phone is run using 3rd party services, be it for e-mail, cloud storage, editing etc. I can buy an Android this moment, migrate my services to it and not be inconvenienced even one bit. In fact there might be a 3rd option somehow and if those services provided support for the 3rd OS, I could go there easily. Windows and Linux could be considered and basically all services I have also have native support for those. And they aren't even mobile operating systems. That's how much I'm "locked into Apple's ecosystem".

This is why I get so annoyed by BS people keep repeating without actually knowing s**t.

[deleted post]Basically everything you've listed has very little to do with iPhone or iOS and are a non issue. What has big screen to do with any of it lol? You can have big screen on cheap 100€ phone or expensive 1500€ one. It has nothing to do with Apple, iPhone or even iOS. I wonder if you were looking at the cable the same way back in the day when Lightning was the actual first reversible cable while you were still rotating your microUSB and shoving it into a phone wondering why it's not going in even though you've rotated it 3 times already. As for gaming, is that even an actual thing? Not once I've heard anyone with iPhone say "gee, I wish my experience was smoother". As much as I played Raid Shadow Legends and tried Diablo Immortal to see what's the fuss about it, both ran absolutely smoothly maxed out. On a 3-4 years old iPhone. In the end I just lowered framerate to 30fps so it would drain battery less as it was auto grinding in Raid and I wasn't even looking at it. That's how much it's an actual issue for majority of people.

You're just being salty as hell and your last line proves that very colorfully.

A feature to make two biggest screen puncholes ever, even a bigger one.
          Remarkable.
          This will sell like hotcakes?

Buy the Android flagships from Xiaomi or Vivo.
Samsung has been caught slowing down the 8 gen 1 (still a better choice over any iPhone)
Also buy an 8 gen 1+ device.
These days there are plenty of choices in compact segment as well

They want more freedom, functionality, security, ease of use and most importantly CHOICE which is completely absent in the iOS ecosystem.

Grey Wolf, 04 Sep 2022Yeah, but you are talking about a period when Android phone... moreSo, because I was disappointed for 10 years with Android nonsense, surely, now it's much better! Yeah, imagine why I don't believe much of it... Samsung is really the only one that seems believable, because they are reliably and consistently doing it. Across almost all models but their most budget ones.

In my case, for iPhone, Lightning didn't turn out to be a problem at all and I had USB-C before. Charging is fine, I only charge to 80% which means it's quick anyway and it lasts me full day easily for my use with that charge. Notch, not an issue and I couldn't care less if it's up there or not. It really doesn't bother me at all. I actually grown to like FaceID more than I thought I would which is extra reason I don't hate the notch. it has a purpose. It's a brilliant system that works great. Not even face masks made it big enough inconvenience to hate it. File management is fine. Was a tad clumsy prior iOS 13 or 14 I believe, but now it's excellent and the way my cloud service presents itself as own separate "location" makes it feel and work like it's a local storage on a phone. Photos is fine, I don't see anything in particular wrong or limiting, same as on Android.

There's really nothing so offensive on iPhone that I couldn't compromise with it. It's all just mild inconvenience I can live with. Not getting major OS updates after just 1 year or 2 was a major thing. And having to wait for update for weeks when others were saying they have them already was also super big for me and there was nothing you could compromise with there. Safari engine for browsers, minor thing. No custom launchers, minor thing. Ringtones only 30 seconds and only managed via iTunes. Stupid, but I can live with it. It's just nothing that would really offend me. So, there's that.

If Android works great for you, excellent. It's a good OS, I just don't like how it's (mis)managed by 3rd parties.

The punch hole protrudes way too far into the screen. This means that a lot of display area is lost unnecessarily.

I don't understand why these Android boys try to get people buy Android phones when even less and less of them do it? It should tell a lot, people are leaving Android behind.

"According to a separate Counterpoint report, Apple also continues to top the world's market for high-end smartphones.

9to5Mac mentioned that a wholesale price of $400 or more is regarded as the premium segment. Apple controls 57% of this market globally. Apple holds 78% of the market share in the ultra-premium $1,000+ device segment.

Appleinsider reported that according to a StockApps study from last April, over the previous five years, Android had lost 8% of its market share globally. iOS, on the other hand, had increased 6% throughout that time."

SShock, 04 Sep 2022You call it blind loyalty, for them, it's just a produ... moreYeah, but you are talking about a period when Android phones where much worse than they are now. Sony, Samsung, LG, HTC, Nokia, etc. phones were all worse than iPhones, maybe in the period 2010-2016 (software wise). Nowadays, even a 250EUR Android phone can work smoothly and bug free (and I know this, because I have one as my secondary phone). You don't need a 800-1000EUR iPhone anymore for this.
Yeah, iPhones have their pluses, but for me they have more minuses nowadays. Being the fact that they do not want to change and they have al the time this conservative approach.

I don't like they still use lightning port, I don't like that it takes 100-120 minutes for full charge (even with 30W charger), I don't like the ugly notch, I don't like that they give only Face ID as option for unlocking the phone, I don't like their File management system, I don't like that is not as easy to copy-paste things from and to iPhone and there is always some kind of work-around to be done on this regard, I don't like how the Apple Photos app takes cares of the photos (is not like the Gallery app on Android phones).
On the other hand, I like how they take care of the software updates and how each iPhone eligible for an update will receive that update on day X worldwide (no matter where you are), I like their services more (Apple One is very good in my opinion). But, that's just about it.
As you can see, the dislike list is bigger in my case. That is why I decided to stick with Android for now. I will buy an iPhone again, maybe when they will correct some of those dislikes.

Grey Wolf, 04 Sep 2022Yeah, in your case maybe. But you don't represent the ... moreYou call it blind loyalty, for them, it's just a product that works and they like it enough to not care for alternatives.

There are people who buy an iPhone and just don't care what Android offers. The same way there is bunch of people who scream at top of their lungs how iPhones and iOS are garbage and they never actually used one. Smudging display of friends iPhone for 10 minutes is not "actually using it".

I used to say I'll never buy anything Apple and I can quote myself on that any time and not be ashamed of it. At one time I came to a point I was fed up with Google's privacy crap and how openly they violate it and everyone is just fine with it and point when after owning several different Android phone brands and they all had hot garbage software support. Short support with updates taking months to arrive, I had enough of that crap.

I dumped Google services as whole long before that decision came, but one day, I just said to myself, I dumped everything Google out of my life. Android phone is the last thing tying me to Google. And I hated its utterly pathetic software support on all of them. What if I tried an iPhone. In 2 days I decided to get an iPhone and I'll work something out through all the obstacles somehow, went to a retail shop and grabbed the XR. I didn't even go online and looked for cheaper prices because I didn't want to wait days for it to arrive via mail. And I did and ended up loving the experience so much I don't think I'll be able to go back to Android. Maybe-ish with Samsung and even there I'm still not fully decided.

Reason you see me "shilling" iPhones so much here is not because I love Apple so much. That's not even the reason. At all. Why I do this is to people stop being such Android cultist loyalists and consider iPhone if things it offers are what you care about. And that's usually a point where problem is made by cultist Android fanboys who always put so much misinformation about iPhones that people are afraid to even try it. It's why iPhone X series was the first time I even considered an iPhone, because of all the BS fearmongering how inferior and totally locked down and limited iPhones are. Which is just total and absolutely fabricated BS lie. 3/4 of things people say about iPhones turned out to be entirely untrue and I had 10+ years of experience with Androids prior. That's why I keep saying things about iPhones and that's why I keep pointing out superior software support and bunch of other things that people lie about. Not to defend Apple, but to tell people it's nowhere near as bad or limited as people are making it to be. It's actually a really nice experience. It's different and you have to do some things in a different way, but overall, it's a really good experience worthy of giving it a try.

Take whatever you will from this super long post, but maybe you'll understand background on why I talk so positively about iPhones.

Grey Wolf, 04 Sep 2022Yeah, in your case maybe. But you don't represent the ... more"They just go and buy the newest iPhone. Period.
For me, this is blind loyalty"

This isn't blind loyalty, it's called brand recognition. They already know what they are getting and they know they will like it, so what's the problem? 😁 People usually only change brand if they don't like something, that's why Android users keep changing brands trying to find that better one, but everytime they will be disappointed because the next one will have new problems and effect from that we see these butthurt Android boys filling the Apple news comment sections. Why don't just buy iPhone and be happy like more and more do? In recent study Apple had 98% user satisfaction.
