Brazil is doing right. Selling the charger separately is just profit for smartphone companies as they can just ask the same or even higher price for their phones but the customer has to pay additionally to get the charger. Moreover, it has no positive environmental effect due to the fact that the customer will order the charger separately which means additional packaging and additional delivery procedure. As surely not everyone will order a new charger, Apple can produce less chargers while making extra profit from charger sales.
The environmental effect is similar to the one achieved with the restriction of plastic straws in EU.

(Concerning the plastic straw: I once bought a Nescafe frappé coffee set. It included a plastic cup, a plastic cover, a plastic packaging for the coffee powder and the sugar and of course an overall plastic packaging for all the stuff. The product was advertised for having a plastic straw 🤔.

Handphone companies should discount the price from the handphone and make it optional to purchase the charger if really need 1.

I like no charger in phone box approach and support it for all brands, if they "actually reduce the price of end product".
I'm using smart phones since 2012 (I got samsung galaxy gio, one of the cheapest I could buy that year) Ever since, I owned different brands and models (samsung, htc, xiaomi, huawei) and none of my chargers gone bad. Some of those phones got utterly destroyed but my drawers are full of still functioning chargers (only slower than recent ones).
I think governments worldwide should also increase warranty periods for electronics to encourage using them for longer time periods to reduce e-waste.

I'm surprised EU hasn't really said anything and is apparently approving this even though it has ZERO to do with ecology. It's just screwing over consumers and nothing else.

In reality, it just doubles the packaging volume because you can't ever make 2 boxes smaller than single one. Also e-waste is when something actually lands in a landfill. Just because charger potentially sits in a box or drawer unused for the time being, it doesn't make it an e-waste. And backup chargers are always welcome as well as selling phone with one. All the phones I sold had higher value if they came with original box and all the included accessories.
