Apple iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max arrive with pill notch, Always-On Display, and new cameras

There's a new chipset too, unlike the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus.

How would it compete with HUAWEI MATE 50 pro

Please tell me why the aperture of the ultra wide-angle camera has decreased from f1.8 to f2.2?

.alpha, 08 Sep 2022So China gets the best model again while the US model is so... moreWell, you can get it for the advertised 999, on Europe it costs 1500 same model, same storage

Maybe I'm just not used to seeing it, but that "pill" looks worse than the notch. It looks quite large and low.

Curious to know which Chinese OEM is gonna use this "notch" as Digital Chat Station said a top5 domestic brand is going to.
          🤣

How to to buy an iPhone from somewhere where it would be cheaper for unlocked Version? The price in Europe are ridiculous 200 euros more expensive than in US...

There's definitely something called doing too much and this is exactly what apple has done in their 'Far Out' themed event. This, in one swoop completely draws the line between Apple and Samsung or any other Smartphone company. Just saying, if Apple ever decides to make a foldable, it's bye bye Z flip and Z fold. Just saying.

So China gets the best model again while the US model is so gimped I'll have to buy an imported model to use. Most country do not have eSIM so force American model to be eSIM only means you either pay a lot to US carrier to use global roaming or do without data when traveling

Anonymous, 07 Sep 2022When you use lossless zoom, you lose some quality? If you zoom in 2x, you'll be getting a noisier image since you're using a smaller part of the sensor, but with a Quad Bayer sensor at least the resolution of the image remains the same.

So (assuming that the centre of the lens can resolve 48MP of details, and the image processing is good enough) per-pixel sharpness and detail wise, it will be the same as a 1x shot.

SShock, 07 Sep 2022I'm amazed how people watch their events year after ye... moreDude there hasn't been any real news since iPhone X. Its just boring, useless stuff that's not really an update or anything like that, just minor corrections. You can't see any difference in an iPhone X shot compared to a image taken on 13 Pro Max or even 14 Pro Max when it releases. Its just Apple that wants you to believe that but in reality nothing has changed.

Now with iPhone 15 Pro Max I expect some huuuuge changes. After 5 years they have to change everything basically.

For the price of the Pro models they don't at all justify the minor error corrections they made on the 14-models.

I had iPhone since iPhone 3S and let me tell you that nothing substantial has really happened since then. Just bigger display, a bit better camera but nothing new. Android had dual sim and always on display for the last 10 years or so and iPhone is first getting always on now haha. Welcome to the stone age.

Them justifying how "fast" A15 still is and adding the 13 Pro's A15 with "better cooling" isn't enough to sway people to buying essentially a renamed iPhone 13. Might as well buy the 13 Pro with more features for less. Not to mention not even having 120Hz to even properly utilize the processing speed. It's like a weird upgrade-downgrade version of 13 Pro.

Or, you can digitally zoom in losslessly up to 2x without losing too much quality? Haven't you been paying an attention to how the extra resolution is utilised in real-life shooting scenarios on recent Android phones?

"Btw, dont you think that with larger 1.05" xiaomi should beat those 1" compacts instead of losing easily?"

I don't know your definition of "losing easily" but there are situations where compact cameras with a type-1 sensor beat out smartphones with the same sensor size (e.g. Zoom, detail capture in well-lit scenes) and vice versa (Low light, dynamic range control when shooting in auto).

I know you felt betrayed when iPhone ended up using a Quad Bayer sensor instead of a traditional Bayer sensor as you initially predicted, but it's better that you don't blurt out stuff that you don't really understand :(
