Sony how about using the whole sensor this time instead of adding features?

Piphacker, 08 Sep 2022Sony Never Comes with fast charging & bigger battery li... moreThey're not losing or winning, Sony just there, stay a float in premium segment.

They've improved almost everything.. display, camera, software.

And recently just read the Xperia 5 iv review, the display brightness able to produce more than 600nits in manual control.. just behind Apple & Samsung s22 series.

Anonymous, 08 Sep 2022Sony must give 4 android updates with latest specs under 15... moreSamsung doesn't give this many updates, what makes you think Sony will? lol

Gsmarena does not read, source says BAYER.

Improved version of IMX 903+IMX 803+IMX557
        1 inch + 1./1.3 + 1/1.7, full 48mp BAYER DPAF
F1.2 to F4.0 Multistage variable aperture
        2G5P mirror set

Anyway, obviously fake. No way they can fit all this inside narrow body like pro-i.
Also, they would sacrifice design for giant bump like xiaomi did.

          AnonD-546724, 08 Sep 2022Why isn't Sony using their own ground-breaking IMX989 ... moreBecause it is slow.

Sony might be using high-resolution 48MP sensors, but they would keep the sensor readout speed at an adequate 50ms from others. This means they might still be offer 20fps AF/AE burst capabilities despite the 4x higher resolution, continuous real-time Eye AF, as well as high bit rate 4K@120fps on all sensors.

But the fanboys will always rant about the overheating, as if the 4K 120fps videos at over 200Mbps bit rate is not very heavy on SoC, whereas the Galaxies and iPhones still do 4K 60fps at around 80 to 100 Mbps in 2022.

I'll take this rumour with a pinch of salt. It's totally unlikely that Sony will go for a Quad Bayer sensor because the camera DRAM on current Sony smartphones is not fast enough for such sensor.

                Hahaha😂....
I don't blame anyone claiming "Sony is following Apple trends"
Sony are to be blamed(they own the sensors yet they spy trend)

The same oems and fan boys that bash higher megapixel counts will be the ones to defend their advantage 2yrs from now
                "APPLE ARE CLOSE,soon we'll see a Promax with 100mpxls"

And what will the price be? 3000 dollars this time for trash that is only supported in 2 years and will overheat after using the phone for 5 minutes.. Yeah right.. This phone is DOA

You're funny. You do know that the iPhone sensors are all made by Sony right? You do know that these quad bayer sensors where made with 48mp to 12mp binning in mind? This is not an Apple innovation buddy.

SerginSvg, 08 Sep 202248mp camera is over in android world, midranger may use it.... moreIt not about how many megapickles you have .... It about sensor size ,pixel density ,OIS ....all in all the ISP which will be combined with is a major factor too.
You can't compare 18bit ISP of SD 8 Gen 1 SoC to the of midrange 12bit ISP Of SD 6 Gen 1 SoC

Tho sony lag behind... more"Trend" is a fine word to put out there when you defend companies incapable of competing with technology. These companies were also the ones spamming fake news and disinformation about easily appreciated benefits of high sub-pixel count on a mass produced smartphone camera.

Sony and Apple are tagging along now as the visual differences are getting so obvious, but they are still falling behind.

It's going to be jolly expensive. I expect 2000€ or more. Which is ridiculous considering short support.

RIP Sony releasing many overpriced unsold products with old gen parts.

They also got a jack and they don't give up, that's what's holding them up.

SerginSvg, 08 Sep 202248mp camera is over in android world, midranger may use it.... moreThere's not much difference between 48mp and 50mp. 12mp versus 12.5 mp in binned mode. The majority of the 108mp sensors and 200mp ones also output 12mp photos anyway in default mode. The size of the sensor and pixels is important. Would much rather have a 1 inch type 48mp sensor (if this imx903 one is actually real) than a smaller 200mp one (e.g. Hp3) or 108mp one (e.g. Hm6)

Android Flagship will utilise camera from 50Mp going up all the way to 200Mp. 48Mp camera is trend from 2018, so does with the pile cutout. Oh Well its apple innovation hahaha

Interesting, at least before the expected price...

After Apple released the iphone 14 Pro series. This was announced? Makes me wonder. How many android smartphones will now follow apple and release 48MP camera? Both front and the back??
