ishreal, 09 Sep 2022iPhones slow down too and are notorious for kicking apps ou... moreIt's true, for the case of iPhones that are about at least 3 years old now and have their batteries mostly degraded already. While I don't appreciate forced slow down of old devices, the credit should still be given to where it's due, as Apple was called out for it and then stopped doing it after being caught. Besides, those problems of old iPhones are mostly attributed to the need of battery replacement only. Many iPhone 6s users also reported that they've had their phones perform much better after replacing the old and original batteries that their devices came with from the beginning of time.

As for personal experience, I have certainly experienced more slow-downs with Android flagships compared to iPhones, although I do understand that Androids are also more fun to use compared to iPhones, but as I grow up and live a more matured life, I have come to realize that many incredible features that Androids offer are mostly just for fun only, and that iPhones already offer most of what I'd ever need in a smartphone. But then you'd argue that I should just go with cheap smartphones if that's all that I need in a smartphone, but then again, nobody else offers full support for old devices as long as Apple does. Remember that one actor who held onto his iPhone 6 until it died after about 6 years of use? That just goes to show how well iPhones age over time. I doubt that any Android flagship is anywhere comparable to this level.

Nicolas F, 09 Sep 2022That's not quite true; the "free" amount of ... moreWhich means Android OS has plenty of background processes that consume quite a chunk of hardware resources but doesn't really contribute to anything in terms of the device's overall functionality, since I have both an Android and iPhone and I don't see anything at all that I'm missing out with having less RAM on the latter.

This is me speaking from experience, in which my sister's Galaxy S20+ with 12GB RAM only has about 8GB left despite not even having any app in the multitasking page or doing any background processes whatsoever. Even after a restart, it only goes up to about 9.3GB free, which means the entire Android OS + Android OEM's software skin alone already consumes that much memory, hence the need for Android devices to really have more than double the amount of RAM just to operate as smoothly as iOS devices.

Anonymous, 09 Sep 2022not really Oh, it sure does! My iPhone 7 Plus very rarely lags on a daily basis, and only drops frames when doing super intensive tasks that are already way beyond its SoC's capabilities. I don't have a Galaxy Note 8 for comparison, but otherwise many people, possibly millions, would still be using that phone if its performance was really that much better than an iPhone 7 Plus, right?

Anonymous, 09 Sep 2022Well, you remembered wrong. If you even have an idea or act... moreThe phones were working fine for people with aging batteries prior to the update. It's called planned obsolescence. There's a Wikipedia page on it that you can check out. This is the same reason why Apple has historically made everything as hard to self repair as possible even resorting to software and firmware lockouts for user repairs. Apple got caught in the act with their update, no matter how you try to spin it.

Sin, 09 Sep 2022The OS don't change bad hardware into good hardware or... moreNot true. Apple consistently have ran lower clocked processors and lower capacity batteries for years. The difference is that the OS and hardware is totally in sync with one another. The iphone 13 has barely over 3000mah in the battery but it's battery life and battery span is far better than any android of that size. Android as a whole is not optimized on a software level. The hardware is as good if not better in some cases. It's the disadvantage of being open source. The whole task management and service management on Android is dreadful. If you ever look at the task manager, it's a mess. Constant battery drain by lots of unnecessary system services and also system apps preinstalled that drain battery even when disabled. This doesn't happen on apple. I'm not an apple fan. I think they're greedy but their os is hands down miles better. It's incredibly streamlined. You're not right in saying hardware and it's performance doesn't relate to software. It totally does. Many android phones have terrible performance with top end snapdragon chips in them. Many examples are on miui based devices because the MIUI skin is so heavy on resources. Trust me because I have done it, you root many android devices and install a custom ROM,many of which are really light on resources and the difference is night and day. I've put an extra year at least into some android phones through rooting. This is simply because android operating systems are largely a sprawling mess.

I thought it be good too mention if someone was too build a pc you need at least 8gb ram but what you really want is 32gb ram

I just go 32gb ram and not look back

              Both Android or Windows
Really would benefit from it so much

              So yeah
I wish Android manufacturers didn't hold there smartphones back with only 18gb ram when the maximum amount of ram the Snapdragon 8 gen 1+ support is 24gb ram

So am not defending the Android smartphone makes either
I think there should be a 24gb ram gaming smartphone but it doesn't exist

-Trix-, 09 Sep 2022"My guess is because lack of knowledge on the matter. ... moreThe OS don't change bad hardware into good hardware or the other way around

The OS can only hide it

If I built a pc one on windows and the other running Android

The pc hardware components cost is still the same regardless of the os it's running on
Also the pc with 8gb ram is better than the 6gb ram

Either pc with less ram is the worse pc

iOS unlike windows or android can run smoother with less ram but it doesn't change the fact it's still a very small amount of ram on a very expensive phone

But even iOS will need more ram in the future as it's grows bigger but it's apps on the app store future games that will really suffer the most

Just look at gaming on iPhone se or iPhone 6s am sure the ram bandwidth is the bottleneck
                For many games

That means the next FE probably will have 4GB os RAM.

Android boys always say how Android users are tech people who know about tech and then they compare paper specs with two completely different systems, how silly is that 🤦🏻‍♂️

Are they on the same hardware? Nope. What about same software? Nope. So why are you comparing two different worlds like they are the same? Why do people do that?
My guess is because lack of knowledge on the matter. But you can correct me if I been mistaken

You can literally read up on why Android v iOS or vice versa shouldn't be compared on AnTuTu's website. I don't know why people keep bringing up AnTuTu benchmarks of iPhone vs any Android, when it's always void because of differences in how the app is made and ran in itself.

If you even have an idea or actually done some research to why Apple (or any company) did it, then you wouldn't make such a statement. It literally is just because of aging batteries that it can't supply the proper voltage to let the phone run at full power stably. If it didn't, then the phone would just outright shut down without warning. They lost because they never gave a heads-up to users that they're doing it. Even Samsung was doing it, yet people suddenly have a mind of a goldfish and never knew Samsung also got fined for it.
