The Pixel 3a was the first Pixel in the 'a' series and was really small with a 5.6" screen, although they also released a Pixel 3a XL with a 6.0" screen. Perhaps they will return to the size of what Google previously considered as 'not XL'.

In 2022, "compact" means anything narrower than 75mm.

I'd be surprised if it's an even smaller Pixel than the current 6.1" Pixel 6a. Maybe Google is trying to fight ASUS Zenfone 9.

Anonymous, 15 Sep 2022So true. I think small phones are only good for your pocket... morePixel 5 is compact and has a large screen. Smart size, sensible, good for just about anything. Definitely a sizeable market not currently catered for by Google in the premium division.
