Either way, if they want lighter phone then Zenfone 9 or Xperia 5iv are there and those are better no doubt. "The weight is a possible reason for Apple fans to go for the regular 14"- lol why be remain apple fan then and not change? If someone brings up "used to ecosystem" arguement, then still that's an interview failure because it shows they can't adapt to changes.
Again, I'm not attacking those picking pro/max over ultras from Xiaomi/Samsung as those are similarly priced. If you ask me I despise them equally but that's different discussion. But these regular/plus is inexcusable.

SShock, 25 Sep 2022Thing is, the way how unconditionally smooth iOS is on iPho... moreMy partner has an iPhone 13 and my find X5 is considerably smoother and more enjoyable to scroll on than her iPhone any day in any app or the phones settings. Same for when I upgraded from a Huawei mate 10 pro (60hz) to P40 pro (90hz), there's a noticeable difference in usability and smoother scrolling. Oh BTW you can disable animations on android if you want even quicker transitions.
She had an iPhone 11 before that and was exactly the same outcome vs my P40 pro (90hz), my pixel 6 pro (got rid of because of how bad it was as a phone) and current find X5 and I couldn't go back to a 60hz screen/60hz iphone because of the noticeable difference in usability. frustrating using 60hz phone now seem like they're lagging.

Made up nonsense. I said nothing of the sort above. I'm an android user not an iPhone user so in no way have that impression.
I can understand why people would go for an iPhone 14 though. Same launch price as the iPhone 13. Not every user will care about things like autofocus on an ultrawide or a 60hz screen. I bought a Xiaomi 12 and one of the first things I did was set the screen to 60hz. At the end of the day many flagship users just want an IPhone and don't care about whether it has a 60hz screen or not. Also some people may just want a lighter phone. The pro model is way heavier than the regular 14 model. The weight is a possible reason for Apple fans to go for the regular 14. I know a couple of colleagues who got it for that reason. As long as they are happy with it then it is the right choice for them.

SShock, 25 Sep 2022Thing is, the way how unconditionally smooth iOS is on iPho... moreTotally respect how 60Hz refresh rate is not a deal breaker for you and others who feel the same way. Afterall, phone usage is completely subjective.
Just saying that for the asking price of the phone and considering the use of an older chipset, Apple could have given its vanilla iPhone patrons the better 120Hz screen this year but they chose to omit more hardware (than in the past) on the 14 and 14 plus, seemingly to upsell their Pro variants. And in a way, that's ripping off the vanilla iPhone users.
Not hating on the iPhones at all. Simply stating a bit of disappointment on Apple's choices because their consumers deserve better and could've gotten more for what they're paying with their hard earned cash.

That's like comparing BMW 320 being smooth Vs BMW M3.
It takes ages too reach down a page when browsing, while on android it needs 2 or 3 swipes it's done unlike flicking it 7 or 8 times.
Smooth is classified as slow

observer, 25 Sep 2022For sure, 120Hz is always noticeably better (the 12 with 60... moreThing is, the way how unconditionally smooth iOS is on iPhones and the way Apple does the scrolling itself makes refresh rate almost irrelevant. It's actually really clever and well executed on Apple's part. Just try scrolling the list of settings in the Settings panel on iPhone. As you scroll, it's smooth from start to end and the way how it gradually slows down to a complete stop is what makes it all feel so absolutely smooth and clean. Sure, 120Hz OLED display will display objects that are moving as sharper, because of lower pixel latency as well as just higher refresh, but the perception of smoothness won't be any different. Which is generally much more annoying on Android phones where scrolling animations are often choppy by itself, they don't slow down as smoothly as on iOS and in the end it just looks way worse on 60Hz as it does at same refresh on iOS. You really need to scroll the list up and down and focus on it specifically to notice it's actually slightly choppy as you move finger up and down the display. And thanks to this magic of design, I don't miss high refresh rate even the slightest. Sure, it would be nice to have when it becomes a standard and absolutely needs to be fully adaptive and not like mess on cheaper Android phones, but I don't absolutely need it. And I'm a gamer with 144Hz gaming monitor and powerful graphic card to actually feed it high frames. And I just don't care. That plays a huge factor imo and iPhone users know it, it's just Android users who look at spec sheet, se it's 60Hz and start making ugly faces. They'll never understand I guess.

Aierlan, 25 Sep 2022That makes no sense. For one thing the executives at the to... moreWell if one would spend more money to get 60hz, no headphone jack, poor battery life, no AF in UW camera etc then this person clearly doesn't have the ability make effective decisions and judgements. Oh and stop this myth of Android being "unreliable", maybe only cheap Android devices are but stop comparing those to these. In this particular case, which is 14/plus vs ZenFone 9 is indeed an great question to ask in interview. Of course it's not the only question that should be asked, if one picked ZenFone 9 then he isn't guaranteed the job as further questions shall be asked.
By the way, it's about 14 and 14 plus not about pro max. It wouldn't really be stupid to get pro max over samsung ultra or Xiaomi ultra as they're all similarly priced. And if an executive were to get an iphone he would get the pro max not the 14 or 14 plus. Whether spending that much on a phone is an example of stupidity or not is another discussion.

AnonD-1066415, 25 Sep 2022Apple needs some extra features in their Pro models, to dif... moreFor sure, 120Hz is always noticeably better (the 12 with 60Hz was just a hypothetical choice for me). The screen refresh rate disparity was more acceptable last year since the vanilla and pro variants had fewer differences but since there's now a generational gap in the chipset used between the two, Apple could've used a 120Hz screen on the vanilla variants this year to kind of offset that while maintaining the price.
Now I can picture the vanilla iPhone 15 next year having a cutout but not a higher refresh rate because I just don't see Apple making both upgrades (ok, cutout as an upgrade is debatable but still) at the same time on the vanilla iPhones. Would love to be proven wrong but I can't help feeling like the next iteration is just going to make this iPhone 14 seem like a better deal than 15 in 2023.

Liliana Mummy, 25 Sep 2022The Vanilla iPhone 13 ranks first among the top 10 best-sel... moreThat's because iPhone 13 is the best iPhone, Apple released in recent years (maybe the best since iPhone X). Taking into consideration the price, of course.
As for the iPhone SE3, people bought it just because it was the cheapest new iPhone available. Nothing great about that model. I wouldn't take it even if someone will offer it for free. Lol.
Imagine if Apple will make an iPhone SE4 with the specs and body of an iPhone 13 Mini and price of iPhone SE3. Sadly, is Apple we are talking about in here, they will never do anything nice like that. Probably they will "refurbish" iPhone 11 design and display, but with A14 chipset, call it iPhone SE4 and put extra 100-150EUR in the final price. Profit.

observer, 25 Sep 2022While the 60Hz refresh rate maybe good enough for some, the... moreApple needs some extra features in their Pro models, to differentiate them from vanilla versions. This 120Hz refresh rate is one of them.
I am guessing, when they will have more features to put into their Pro models, then they will bring 120Hz to their vanilla models too.
And no matter what some people say, there is a difference between 60Hz and 120Hz. Just try to use an iPhone 13 Pro for some time and then try to use an iPhone 12 Pro. The differences are clearly there. Doesn't mean 60Hz iPhones are unusable, it means that 120Hz are better and you can immediately tell this, by having both side by side.

While the 60Hz refresh rate maybe good enough for some, they still could have gotten the better 120Hz (yes, even Apple thinks 120Hz is better as they made it exclusive to the more premium variants) if only Apple would ease up on screwing over their vanilla iPhone patrons.
If I were all-in on the ecosystem coming from an older non-5G capable iphone and didn't mind having a 60Hz notched screen for at least the next 3 years, the most sensible choice for me today would be the 12 at its current price.
