The Chinese variant of the upcoming Samsung flagship, that is.

First of all, a smartphone should have minimum 18 hours battery life. If it doesn't it's just very poor. Secondly, the difference in wattage has a very diminishing return. The difference between 25 and 45W is not that big, it doesn't save that much time. It's not almost "double" fast as the numbers would indicate. Nowadays most smartphones charge fast enough to get 50% charge in 30 minutes - in my opinion that's fast enough for 99% of people. Very few users don't have access to a power outlet for 30 minutes during the day. Or just buy a power bank!

25W is a joke, seriously! I am not saying 120W is a must, but a 50W would be appreciated!

Personally, I prefer the $449 Pixel 6a for its amazing camera, which is just as good as the iPhone SE3's. The A53 has a better display with a 120Hz refresh rate, but the Tensor G1 chip is better than the Exynos 1280.

I need faster because I'm always on the run due to the nature of my job. And for a flagship of 2023 or when they will release S23 is shameful to be beaten by phones that cost 200$ and are using a minimum of 33W. My father uses P40 Pro with 40W since the day it was launched and the battery is perfect. But you can continue to buy Samsung phones, nobody is stopping you.

Really don't understand the obsession with having insane 100-120W charging... how bad must the battery endurance be on Androids for anyone to want this much fast charging?

In addition, the 4 Android updates exceed the 3 of the Pixel 6a and almost reach the 5 of the iPhone SE (2022). However, the cameras and Exynos are not great.

SShock, 25 Sep 2022Though in all honesty, despite everything, Xiaomi is one of... moreIt wasn't a good year for Xiaomi that's for sure. A lot of strange decisions:
                                - Android 11 out of the box for many models (Poco X4 Pro 5G, all Redmi Note 11 series, even the more expensive 12x). Of course, as far as I know, all this models already got Android 12. But, as you said, they will receive maximum Android 13. So, not very nice.
                                - A lot of strange names and far too many models. Redmi Note 11 line-up is the best example for this. They have Redmi Note 11 (SD680), Redmi Note 11S 4G/5G (Helio G96/Dimensity 810), Redmi Note 11 Pro 4G/5G (Helio G96/SD695), Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G (Dimensity 920). And this are just the models available in Europe. There are even more if we consider China and India.
                                - Inferior models compared to last year. Redmi Note 11 Pro is inferior to Redmi Note 10 Pro in many ways. The same, Poco X4 Pro is inferior to Poco X3 Pro.
                                - much more expensive models than in the past. Xiaomi 12 Pro cost as much as an iPhone 13 Pro or S22+ in my country. No way someone could pick this up with Xiaomi software support.

The only relatively good Xiaomi models that I could think of are Xiaomi 11T/11T Pro. But even those suffer from software minuses from Xiaomi. And their successors 12T/12T Pro will cost with about 250EUR more in Europe. Definitely not worth it.

As for now, only Samsung phones are worth it. From Android side at least. Maybe OnePlus or Motorola, if they manage to steer the ships in the right direction.

techois, 25 Sep 202225w is so embarrassing for the phone that is supposed to be... more25W is not as bad as it sounds on some models. For example, S22 Ultra charges in about 60 minutes with 25W charger. With the same charger other models take 85 minutes to charge (for example Galaxy A33 or A53). So, I imagine Samsung did some software tweaks in the S series to charge faster.
Of course, 60 minutes is no super charge, but at least they protect the battery more in long term.
Also, I saw some 65W charging phones that take about 50 minutes for a charge (Realme 9 Pro+, Poco X4 Pro 5G/Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G). So, 10 minutes difference is not night and day. Depends on the model too in the end, not only on the charger.

As for those 120-150W charging phones, I am curious to see what the battery health will be in 12-24 months time. I doubt that will be 90%, lol. No matter what they say on their websites about this. I wouldn't trust any Chinese data about this.
Besides, if the Chinese had managed, by some miracle, to invent something revolutionary in the battery compartment, I doubt that Samsung or Apple will not have implement it too. They have no profit to gain by using slower charging speeds in their phones. Other than protecting the battery more in long term.

AnonD-1066415, 25 Sep 2022Xiaomi improving their software support? Lol, that will be ... moreThough in all honesty, despite everything, Xiaomi is one of better brands when it comes to software support among Chinese phones. But it's highly confusing and very inconsistent across their phones which is just bizarre. Why is it so hard to make it absolutely clear? Only listing I found was Xiaomi's AER Seal page where they openly state what certain phone will get in terms of updates and be a guarantee and not just a rumor. Which is a nice headsup so you know what will each device get. Problem is, there are very few devices on that list (like there is bunch of Poco 4's, but not X4 GT for some reason) and my other main issue is how bizarre some releases are. Like for example, Xiaomi Redmi 11 Pro+ 5G, released in 2021... with Android 11. And because of this, it'll only receive Android 12 and 13, but should ship with 12 already and then get 13 and 14 instead. Why is Xioami doing this?!

Or even worse, Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is on that list. Phone that was selling for like 1300€ in Europe, the ultimate killer phone from Xiaomi with toppest of the top specs, shipped with Android 11 in 2021 and all it got was Android 12. How and more importantly, WHY!? You'll never see such nonsense with any Samsung or iPhone.

I generally like Xiaomi and I think MIUI is actually pretty nice which is often controversial opinion to have, but this absolute trainwreck of inconsistency with updates just makes me not want to buy any of their stuff. And I just don't get it why they don't sort this out.
