And a Dimensity 8100-Ultra chipset. Other than that, the phones are similar with 5,000mAh batteries with support for 120W charging and 120Hz 12-bit AMOLED displays.

SShock, 05 Oct 2022If you understand my comments as Apple promotions, then you... moreYou are just an unpaid apple salesman. But that's OK, you need a hobby after retirement. But your hobbies are quite horrible tho

If they only listen to people like you, then no. But when someone explains it to them how taxes actually work and you all start screeching about it and still wouldn't shut up about it. iPhone is 1000€ because it costs 800€ and there is around 200€ of taxes on it. Because they are mandatory across EU. If you can't grasp that, I don't know how you can survive as an actual (presumably) adult.

The rest of crap you wrote is just a pointless filler without any taste or purpose. Margin isn't just something that magically happens, you have to do something to improve it. Exclusivity creates that. iOS, Bionic chipsets, the actual ecosystem, industry leading years long software support. It's things you can only get on iPhones and then you're allowed to charge more. Who can do that on Android phones when every release it happens, they are all the same because they all use the same OS, run on same chipsets, powered by 20 different "sub" ecosystems around Google's main. It seems like you don't understand the industry you're so engaged in, yet feel the need to preach about it to me. Heh.

SShock, 05 Oct 2022Now the issue is suddenly that Apple is "profiteering&... moreSo you're agreeing that basically all of your comments were arguments about semantics?

Does the average EU consumer care if a phone is $800 in the US knowing that they'll be paying €1000 anyways?

I don't think you're an Apple shill but you should probably scale back on the semantics. It makes you come off as one. Have you seen anybody defending something like this?

And back to your original comment that sparked everything; about Android having terrible software support compared to Apple at the same price.

What same price? And even if they are the same price, does an iPhone 14 Pro beat an S22 Ultra in terms of sheer specs? If there's even a slight difference then there's a different market. Sometimes it's cameras, sometimes it's simply Android vs iOS etc.

How do you think Apple manages to have 5 years of updates and what-not? It's their huge margins on all of their devices. This is why my first comment was about their base prices. Not to mention how closed-off their ecosystem is. No wonder there aren't many reports of stuff not working as there are on Android.

Any Android company can do that if they want to. But they won't survive because of the cult-like impact of Apple. It's not exactly Apple's fault but they sure are making good use of it. It's like Nothing. They're just imitating Apple in creating their own cult.

And, if you're even considering iOS, then you should stop comparing with Android. A power user doesn't decide on a whim between iOS or Android.
And, basic phones for basic users aren't thought important enough to be $800 or even $480 (SE). It's just how it is.

See how many times I used VAT?

That... was never even the question or issue here. Stop moving goal posts. Not to mention you complain about base price and then admit VAT doesn't even go into Apple's pockets. THAT WAS THE WHOLE FRIGGING POINT of me talking about VAT. God damn. When you remove VAT from price, iPhones cost basically the same in US or EU.

Yeah, you're a shill if you believe Apple's profits are defendable. VAT/tax doesn't mean shit if the manufacturer is already profiting loads on the base price.

Xiaomi's per-phone margins are very low for the majority of their lineup. Could be the lowest compared to any company other than Realme. Only top flagships require extra. And, as you said, VAT/tax doesn't go to the manufacturer.

There's also no reason comparing a €750 phone to a €1000 one. Same as how this phone in India will launch at ~€550 (₹40k) while iPhone 14 even at the magical base price of €800 (₹65k) will be in a different ballpark. (not counting the actual price that is €1000/₹80k)

[deleted post]Yeah, you're the one raging here because I explained to someone how VAT works because they were complaining how European prices are higher than US prices. And I laid down how VAT is included in prices in EU, showing that prices by itself are not higher because "evil Apple", they are only higher because of VAT. Proving that Apple isn't charging us more, it's EU taxing system. Why does this bother you so much you're still going about it? I can only assume you're angry. Or something.
