But in practice, the one who actually gets away with more would be greedier.

    While it's not all down to it, greed would be relevant with Apple, at least more than with other manufacturers who can't get away with as much.

    And it's not so much as having the guts to be first. A company with the same user base as Apple could come up with greedy practices at their own pace. Apple is very successful in their branding and establishing the fan base that they have. They can charge a lot while giving their users a false sense of pride as the company profits from them so much. That's the kind of users that other manufacturers could only dream of.

I used to be one of those people. I even said I'd never ever in my life own anything Apple. And things changed and I hated Android phones so hard because of all the nonsense that I decided to try iPhone anyway despite all the horror stories about "closed ecosystem" and how you "literally can't do anything with iPhone". Tried it and turns out all the claims are total BS. iPhones are nice and if having years long software support and consistent experience, iPhones are awesome gadgets.

        They were heavily criticized for taking out ports (optical port, lan headphone jack) and notorious on handling out lowest spec phones selling it at a higher price, but somehow it performs miles better on their competitors.

        Setting the aside their "status symbol", apple really knows to make tech for everyone without excluding or elevating someone. Tech savvys usually boast on their ability to do something via difficult methods while apple implements that in an easy way putting apple users to "toddlers" zone.

        I'm an apple user on portable devices (ipad and iphone) and I agree that they really do make devices that stand the time (still use ipad 2 and battery life is still a boss).

        I guess you can enjoy using tech without the "approval" of others.

This just irritates the critics who clearly can’t stand being proven wrong, so instead of admitting their mistakes, they instead choose to double down on their stances and insist that Apple is ever just a step away from doom.

          That’s precisely what I like about Apple. They march to their own beat and don’t care a crap about what everyone else thinks.

          Another thing is that as a design-led company, Apple often does things which seem incongruous to the tech industry, yet end up being widely accepted by the consumer market. One such example is the design of the Airpods.

          In short, it’s a combination of being misunderstood and people suffering from cognitive dissonance

              [deleted post]Typically, moreso in the past, that is because of Apple's decision to introduce unique Apple connectors on devices rather than use more universal technology already in circulation.

              There's also the fact that much of Apple's devices' operations and structure are hidden from the user intentionally to simplify things. This can be annoying when you know what you are doing with electronics.

              Lack of customization could also be considered a reason.

              Some of these points have been addressed with time, but the grumpy tech communities still remember.

                        If they are the first to as you say ‘pull off these greedy practices’ that’s simply because the rest don’t have the guts to try it, they are quick enough to jump on the band wagon after though now aren’t they, proving my above point.

                        Here I am simply saying it isn’t all down to greed, as the Apple haters so desperately need to believe, there is far more to business at this scale than that.

Why do ev... moreMany reasons factor into why some devices cost less than Apples, who by their nature and Apples business philosophy tend to be more bespoke. Data harvesting, bloatware, lower cost components are all of among these factors.

                          But look, I’m willing to accept none of this with convince you otherwise, as I’m also willing to bet that simply putting all down to Apple being greedy versus the generous, charitable and altruistic Android oem’s is the only way you are ever going to see it.

Other companies who do the same are greedy as well. Apple is just bigger than most, if not all, of them and is among the first to normalize greedy practices, which they are able to pull off because of their fan base.
