Weekly poll: the Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro are selling high megapixel counts, are you buying?

16 October 2022
The 12T Pro in particular is one of the few 200MP phones out there, it also has a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip and a sharper display than most in the €750 price class.

I think more mega pixel better but you're unlikely too benefits from it

But there is a generally problem
What's the point of 4k or 8k picture when you can only view them in only 1080p phone screen

Also smartphone are very limited in storage space so take some 4k videos but you're storage fill up will fast

108mp camera I wonder how many mp the other cameras are on the smartphones
All of the other cameras are tiny

The selfie camera extra neglected camera on smartphones

I can't see the point of super high mega camera on smartphone without SD card slot & 4k screen and a lot of storage

The pop up camera or flip up camera are also rather good or dual screen phone so good camera exists on both sides one way or another without interfering with the screen

I actually prefer the Nubia as mentioned even for camera as at least I would be able view the photos without the very camera that takes the photos getting in the way

I hate the hole punch screens on the ximomi phones and why have flagship if it overheating 24/7

I think it's better too but based on chipset & ram /storage comfic & screen / design as this often found you the best possible smartphone

Actually, I'm more into music, so my G8x is awesome, so I chose "neither is right for me".

Its important to understand that camera megapixels alone can't sell a phone, there must be some USP.
At a time, Mi had these removable back covers which allowed you to have a new colour everyday, audio quality was good, size was small, weight was low.
Now, none of these are present.. And everything important we get from Mi, we get better from other companies.

I've used 108MP camera. Believe me, its "ok".

Decent phones for the price (at least the 12T pro) but when you ain't gonna offer it in my country, I ain't gonna buy it!

I even have no problem running Ubuntu via Andronix in it. Average consumers don't need crazy firepower for everyday browsing. Even something like the Snapdragon 480 5G is more than enough.

This S20 FE model was so well received in the past years, that Samsung pulled out a Xiaomi move. Lol. Releasing older models but with new Android OS.
But even with Android 12 out of the box, the SD865 is an aging chipset (no matter what the enthusiastic people will say). Is not a chipset that you can power use for the next 3-4 years. Maybe maximum 1-2 years.

Anonymous, 17 Oct 2022I can agree with this. Still don't like curved screen ... moreMan curved screens are everything else but not a premium feature.
Calling something which is slippery, easy to break and not screen protector friendly cant be taken seriously as a premium feature.
S6 edge and S6 edge plus were first with a curved screens and they were no better than other phones fo that time and era apart from fact they had difficult to repair and a very costly curved screen.
Genuinely same device with everything same but with flat screen would cost at least 100 less and even a screen repair would be at least 75% less because of flat screen.
Crved screen des not add a premium value or quality to the device but shapphire screen will do.

I like Xiaomi. They are doing pretty good. Realme is great too. But if I had to pick only one I will go for Samsung instead. One UI is simply amazing.

Sadly, many flagship phones nowadays have curved displays (Motorola 30 Ultra, S22 Ultra, Pixel 7 Pro, OnePlus 10 Pro, etc.). At least in this area, this 12T Pro and 12T models have a plus, by using flat panels.

Particularly with 12T series where it promised 3 major OS updates and extra 1 year of security updates only. That's pretty impressive. They'll be a bit late than most, but they'll be there.

Anonymous, 17 Oct 2022i am using mi 5s, poco f1, redmi note 9 pro, poco f2pro, bl... moreYet you still have a Xiaomi. You can have all the spec in the world, but it's still a Xiaomi in the end, with ads and buggy MiUI. At such high prices Xiaomi is trying to sell, might as well get a Samsung.

I can understand ads on $100 phone or cheaper. But giving the "same" MiUI "experience" even for people paying $500+ models, that's insulting. In the end, Xiaomi is just Xiaomi, and cannot be more than what it is, a cheap phone maker.

tahoemike, 17 Oct 2022Take a couple minutes and remove any bloatware. That's... moreWhy should I waste my own time disabling ads for a $500+ phone? Might as well just get a Samsung.
Having to deal with ads on a $100 phone is understandable, but once you reach $500 or higher, it's insulting. This is why I said Xiaomi is just a Xiaomi, no matter what spec they dump into the phone.

With the 11T Pro growing on me, this offers no good reason to upgrade.
