Weekly poll: the Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro are selling high megapixel counts, are you buying?

16 October 2022
The 12T Pro in particular is one of the few 200MP phones out there, it also has a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip and a sharper display than most in the €750 price class.

It says "Redmi" in the name, but it can manage Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco phone apps and can uninstall/disable apps that are not allowed to be disabled otherwise and you don't need root to do it. It's pretty cool.

just need little tweak to erase all ads and bloatware on xiaomi

for the same price poin, samsung can't give me more performance (soc) than xiaomi

Xiaomi become a joke. They launched so many models and submodels, and provide no supoort for them. no original cases, no screen protection no nothing. And theay are so expensive, I got my wife a samsung s20fe at a price that xiaomi has nothing to compete with. In less than 500$ there is no xiaomi with wireless charging, OIS, really good camera and good cpu and system. They put a lot of price on megapixels and latest cpu and a lot of useless stuff, 99% of users doesn't use. I miss the days when they had 4-5 phone models that where true flagships at low price and software support for 5 years.

Between the two, only the vanilla 12T got my interest because of the Mediatek SoC. The 12T Pro is a hard pass for me because of the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra with a much cleaner stock AOSP UI and USB-C 3.1 with HDMI ALT video output and Ready For Desktop Mode support.

People sure like to complain here about small stuff.

Here in Northern Europe I got the 12T Pro for 649€, comes with a free Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2 Lite. Also available for 12-36 month payment plan with 0% interest (operator offer, but it is operator free phone). Seems to have a 6 month screen replacement guarantee for accidental breakage.

All in all I think it's a good deal. No complains from me.

Tr1kk1, 16 Oct 2022So, how many phones Samsung pumps out in a year? People joke about it, but it's nowhere near as many as Xiaomi or BBK. Samsung is just Samsung and they mostly release models on yearly basis across entire range they offer. Xiaomi is made of 3 sub brands, Xiaomi, Poco and Redmi and they not only spawn new models yearly too, they rehash and rebrand same models across all 3 sub brands. Motorola frankly isn't much different, they have so many totally unnecessary models I literally have no idea which is which. They are just all Motorolas and I just avoid them all because of this. On top of pathetic software support...

Andre , 16 Oct 2022Then why don't you go and buy it??? For a very simple reason.
Motorola 30 edge ultra have curved screen. And i hate curved screens they are fragile, slippery and no screen protector holds on them properly.
                    Thats why.

Imo it will never happen. Xiaomi is operating at very thin margin, no room for actual focus on software as they have to release new phone models often to maintain revenue sales.
