1. Lot lot of money to buy everything aka Whales
2. Lot of time to play game 24/7
3. Macro
Am talking about 3rd option, With macro machine do things for you, while you continue with your normal life.
Game is fun when you are powerfull, if you are weak and anyone can 1 shot you its not fun.
At day time your device farm, at night where many people are active and most game modes are open you play game yourself in pvp and other modes. Its normal practice for any top players in many Mmorpg.

On a gaming pc or gaming laptop is probably the way too go
As long as you can get touch screen support working most games should work
Alternatively possibly multi boot a gaming pc with Android x86 windows & Linux is another possibility
The Asus Rog phones are not the only gaming smartphone on the market better gaming smartphone are made with better cooling system have come out
The gaming smartphone should buy is the Lenovo legion y90 or Nubia red magic 7
They have active cooling cooling system
Nubia red magic has 1 built-in fan
Lenovo legion y90 2 built-in fans plus SSD storage in raid with ufs storage
Both of these can make phone calls and text
So no need for second device

I use to play Android mmorpg at top level, most top players use PC and Emulators to set macros, Grinding and other farming activities and use their phone for pvp.
But these pc stay at one place you need something like Team viewer or anydesk to control them and its not comfortbale doing anything.
Then 2019 Gaming phone started to became mainstream, i remember Rog phone 2 was one of fewer phone which could farm more than 3 hours in black desert mobile lock screen Farming. Then slowly Gamers started buying them.
This Handheld is better than gaming phones, Cheaper and has Active cooling, it will sell a lot especially in East Asia market. The only thing am not sure is how good Active cooling is.
Not just mmorpg there are highend emulation, highend Android gaming etc if people are buying Tablets for gaming definetely they will consider this.
Its not targeted to everyone, just few people who understand its value.

Switch is very underpowered and locked down
Steam deck got problems with joy stick drift and battery and realistically is obsolete by 2023
iPhone and iPad are not really gaming devices
Locked down software and apple no friend of gamers
Gaming handhelds don't make any sense as they can't make phone calls or text and most of them don't run Android
Just use your gaming smartphone
Yeah people do buy them but there kinda silly and just extra device too carry for people with money too burn and extra space in there pockets too carry
What am saying is handhelds there unnecessary unless you're smartphone very low spec like 1gb ram / 8gb storage Android phone like Nokia c01 plus or Alcatel 1 budget smartphone
People can have much better smartphone if they
just save up money and buy the highest spec version of the Nubia red magic or Lenovo legion gaming smartphone
One device that can do everything the gaming smartphone
small portable higher Hz screen and 1080p Res with good battery life and performance

... moreI had my s888 running at 14w tdp, with overclocked cpu gpu, voltage current at 4.2v, 90 too 100fps, a big 7nm 5nm die core v12 is much better than maggot v6 engine.
S21ultra felt like 3500mah instead off 5000mah. Not big deal.
Had fixed double 2mm copper inside behind the copper rear back that replaced the garbage trash glass back.
No problem even at 40 degrees hot, no slowing or sign off malfunction.
I had custom rom with kernels
I had cpu kicking in having 12 cores running.
