Wow, I did not expect it to cost over $100 more than the previous gen. I'm glad they didn't end up keeping the home button after all. That would be an eye sore.

the iphone xr of ipads. looks more colorful than most ipads that comes with gold, silver, and black. not sure about the wired usb c headset support though

Anonymous, 18 Oct 2022Enough for most honestlyTo follow up to this comment of mine: 64GB is more than enough to watch YouTube, scribble some notes and have the occasional streaming and game app. It‘s not a phone where you store your entire photo library on it, on a phone 64GB is not really enough anymore, or just barely for those without many photos (on device).

It’s one generation older chip (that’s not a big difference anyway) and a marginally smaller Display for a third less, it‘s a great deal and a better one than this new iPad.

So a savvy buyer would just get the M1 Air and not bother with this, especially since the older iPad's likely discounted at this point.
Apple are probably just targeting its fans that don't check the specs and just purchase the latest release.

That much of a price increase just doesn't make a lot of sense in the iPad lineup. You could buy a discounted or refurbished iPad Air for not much more. Could be this was destine to happen with the iPad in order to run future iPad OS properly. But the cost for a second or third device seems impracticable for me. Obviously the left over $329 isn't a good deal being a legacy device with hardware that is also dated.

What a bullsh*t device for pencil use because of the charging method. This is merely for watching YouTube and for that, it’s too expensive. Apple lineup-engineered this out of the market.
They focused so much on upselling to the Air (that newer was a good option since the 3 came out) that they released a product worse than its predecessor. Only saving grace for the iPad line is that the iPad 9 continues to be sold. Next year, when nobody bought this, they‘ll have to do something about it, add Apple Pencil 2 support or whatever. Reality is that the vast majority of iPad buyers are just not in the market for an 800$ iPad Pro so their disgusting upselling will fail.

The pencil still being first gen makes zero sense! Your main accessory is not compatible with the port on your device.
Apple has really gone crazy with this lol
