    While this more like touch id on iphone, air trigger on rog or side sense like on htc or early pixel.. You need an actual force to trigger and haptic will make it feel like you pressing a button.. but you're right, this is not something new or even innovative

    And personal I still love physical buttons.. even in automotive, VW revert back to using physical buttons on their steering wheel.

      a.k.a. Capacitive Buttons/ Side Fingerprint Scanner(but on Volume Buttons as well)

      So they're finally adapting Side Fingerprint Scanner but naming it as "Solid State Buttons"

      They should just skip that go directly to "Under Display Fingerprint Sensor" with a new Apple Marketing Name instead

          Why can't others let only Apple fail with this? Why do they have to copy such stupid ideas instead of seeing them as a chance to gain customers from Apple 🙄

It might also be longer lasting than conventional buttons due to touch and no mechanical parts. Apple is moving in the right direction

                          Yes, now whenever you hold your phone in a wrong way your volume changes due to mistouch or your device turns off as you mistouch the power button

                            But proper physical buttons can never be replaced by anything what micims the real thing.

I bet they will rediscov... morePower steering on cars is still just a steering wheel, but no one is complaining about "reinvention" of the wheel. Solid buttons just mean there is no mechanical action, meaning enhanced water resistance and less chance of failure due to dust or water. Will it be better, that's yet to be seen.
