ae86, 31 Oct 2022kudos to those taiwanese engineers, never did I thought med... moreit's probably thanks to ARM's new GPU architecture. They made big leaps over the last two years (not so in CPU architecture). Also, while they continue using TSMC 4nm, improved yields (and improved quality) over time lets your build even denser transistors. But yeah, I guess MediaTek also learned how to use these architectures better over the years.

Holy shhh, that's unsustainable by all means in a phone.
Even the M2 MacBook air can't sustain more than 12W being fanless.

Good to see Mediatek not slowing down their progress from utter crap SOC to one of the best.
Hopefully they will be able to secure more manufacturing deals for chromebooks and tables - their Kompanio SOC for chromebooks looks really sweet, but sadly only one can be found on the market in my country (Acer Spin 513).

CPU's have none of this. So, yeah, GFXBench and Antutu very much depend on platform way more than CPU's.

Contract is to secure chips and how many units . Qualcomm has no power to say OEMs have to use 8g1/8+g1 on their most expensive phone.
They use because it is better than mediatek. Accept and move on.
Weaker modem, weaker ISP, no 8K video, no 4K screen, no mmwave, weaker gpu.
But to you they are forced to use better chip.
