Samsung to bring the Light performance mode to Galaxy S23 phones for better battery life

03 November 2022
Light mode was recently added to the Galaxy Z 2022 foldables. It prioritizes battery life and running cool over absolute performance.

the reason samsung upgrade their phone bit by bit is because they want the consumer to keep upgrade and buying their phone...too much gimmick there,by 2023 they already can make a very better phone with less consumption power with the help of 4nm chipset. huawei already prove with 7nm chipset it already can save power consumption but sad to say they have been put away by the world propaganda.

So, i'm the only one who thinks that's pathetic? First, itsounds like regular "battery saver" which mostly disables features (Which itself is retarded). Second, a phone should have big enough battery to have good battery life no matter what. Especially when you pay tons of money. Yet it doesn't even have basic features like 3.5mm jack.

But i blame consumers who are also pathetic and swallow everything they throw at them.

BTW foldables are even more pathetic.

If you are a custom ROM aficionado, you must be familiar with CPU governor. When I installed Havoc-OS Android 10 custom ROM on my old Samsung Note 4, I use the SmartPack-Kernel Manager app to play around with the SoC's CPU speed. If any Android OEM, Samsung included, can develop it as a native feature, even under the Developer setting, that'd be an epic addition.

I bet gsmarena won't test this feature in their review

They can throttle it to 2Ghz and enjoy a good enough performance and efficiency point in the voltage curve.
The problem with the X cores (and apple's, amd, intel big cores) is in the last part of the curve: it requires more power for diminishing returns, an "squeeze the last bit of perf at whatever cost".

Anonymous, 03 Nov 2022Disabling 5G is somewhat reasonable but it isn't pleas... moreIt depends on device. 60Hz on my new Poco X4 GT somehow feels worse than 60Hz on my ancient iPhone XR. Sure, at high refresh it's smoother on Poco ultimately, obviously, but at 60Hz, iPhone looks and feels so much better. I could easily run iPhone at 60Hz even after being on HRR phone. I could absolutely not use Poco at 60Hz because it just feels horrible.

I've also enabled 5G by paying extra 2€ a month just to finally try out 5G, but frankly, I'll switch back to 4G before next month. I'll rather save 2€ as 4G speeds were just fine for my needs.

This is a really good setting for Samsung galaxy users
                            And big improvement I think

Having light performance mode as a opinion could help a lot of people who want more battery life too last though the day and just being able use there smartphone for more hours of screen on time

Better battery optimization with bigger overall size battery as a opinion people can choose to use too save extra battery or just be full power all of the time u are given the option for yourself too pick

This is a meaningful improvement for most people And Samsung smartphones that get this feature

Xiaomi making 33W and faster since 2017 or so and noissues not even with batteries.
Since this is claimed and true it doesnt matter the 10W will be excellent regardless they tested it or not.
And if it would be really problem EU would ban that immediately.
Nothing like that happened and phone is happily selling among chinese people without any know issues.

Reason you dont trust company like xiaomi is your problem rest of us know Apple and Samsung were only two companies with charging or battery issues.
And thats a said, confirmed fact which noone and no Samsung or Apple can deny no matter what.

Heavy OS, wish user can remove bixby easily. S23+ should have 5000mAh & 60W charging.

maybe its other thing which cause poor battery life?

SShock, 03 Nov 2022You're actually right. The problem is sweet spot. Ever... moreif you watch geekerwan video where he explain about soc, at 2W power cortex A78 and X2 all give more perfomance than A710, so A710 is worse, and the worst of them all is cortex A510 which use more power than even cortex A78, A510 use as much as 2W while A55 use less than 1W sometime 0.5W,

these lower core like A510 are the one which handle simple things like standby, lite apps etc and they are responsible for bad standby time in Gsmarena test.

its even bad when you think future cpu will continue using A510 and A710, so they are here to stay.
